BAA2213 REINFORCED CONCRETE DESIGN 1

Q1
Calculate the design load on each beam as shown in Figure 1 (a) and 1 (b), and then, draw
the shear force and bending moment diagram with important value.

Figure 1 (a)

Figure 1 (b)
Q2
Determine the area, size and number of bars required for the beam as shown is figure 1 (a)
and 1 (b) , Use concrete grade, fck = 30 N/mm2, high tensile steel, fyk = 500 N/mm2 and
concrete cover, c = 25 mm

a) If the design moment, M is 90 kNm.

b) If the design moment, M is 180 kNm

Q3
Figure 3 (a) and 3(b) show the beam cross section which are designed by using concrete
grade, fck = 25 N/mm2 and high tensile steel, fyk = 500 N/mm2. Calculate the moment
resistance, MR for each beam.

Figure 3(a) Figure 3(b)

Q4
Refer to the Q1. Determine the suitable size for beam in Figure 1(a) and 1(b). Then, design
the required reinforcement by considering the positive and negative moment. Use concrete
grade 30 and high tensile steel for the main reinforcement.
