Movies are mere fictitious stories fabricated to unravel the truth of the society.
They do have the
potential to unearth the reality but the plot is fictitious, the characters are fictitious, the genesis and the origin is fictitious. Note that cinema may be a reflection of society but it's all feigned. They project a world which ranges from dystopian to ethereal all of which is untrue. Raising awareness of an issue which is otherwise not implicated in the real world by encapsulating the story with a fictitious realm. And bcoz of such movies, due to their creation one can discuss such topics and issues which otherwise remain cloaked, silenced and concealed. It accentuates the significance of discussing and bringing up the vital issues in light and to be discussed in important forums. They raise awareness on such severe issues,so that arguments, discussions and other such myriad of conversations are propelled. Once the movie Animal released there was an array of discussions, both online and offline. Im sure most of you present here too discussed it with ur friends and family. Must've gained some insightful reviews. The movie seizes the opportunity to brilliantly highlight the severity of childhood trauma in combination with deprivation of fatherly love that leads to a young boy possibly morphing into the titular animal displayed in the film. The problem with the film was with the directive execution not the issue which it wanted to highlight like they say robin hood was a good man but his ways were wrong. This movie was crafted for mere entertainment purposes. If movies really had such an extensive impact on the society and were a tool for inspiration then after watching Dangal we would've had at least 1000s of geeta phogat, movies like 12th fail would've generated 100s of manoj. People like Iqbal would have existed. It is merely because ppl are intellectual enough to distinguish between reality and fiction. I grew up watching movies like parinda, tezaab, ram lakhan, dhoom, don. Me and my brother never became gangsters after watching Parinda and none of u in the audience or on the stage did either. Now the opposition might argue that small increments bring the change and that “each droplet adds up to create the ocean.” However, at the same time the ocean is teeming with diverse organisms crucial to its ecosystem, similarly, various factors beyond a single movie or cinema can profoundly impact and inspire individuals. The environment, social circles, and people one interacts with often wield a greater influence than any singular film. The surroundings and the people in the lives of an individual will obviously have a resounding capacity to inspire, motivate and implant ideas rather than a movie crafted for entertainment. When an individual is unable to distinguish a movie from reality and fiction, it is due to the psychological lapse of that individual. Children are often unwitting participants in such scenarios. Yes they can't distinguish. Therefore rather than solely blaming a movie for its negative impact, the focus should shift to addressing the underlying problem: the legal system and regulatory bodies responsible for overseeing cinema content. These entities should establish laws and regulations to curb provocative themes in cinematography and implement appropriate restrictions in this regard. A certain age cap is vital. Moreso instead of concentrating on the commercial capitalist gain obtained from such wry movies one should shift their focus on asking the q why such movies in the first place have the capability to become a blockbuster and why movies like sam bahadur fail. It is not like the audience is immature and only enjoys aggressive, violent plots, movies like drishyam 2 state otherwise it is merely due to the lack of awareness and education pertaining to such themes we should now understand the importance of installing such fundamental concepts into the curriculum and enhancing the education system parallel to the evolving society. In the end i would like to say “kabhi kabhi galat train bhi sahi station pahuncha deti hai”.
