Storyline Blueprint
This document outlines a structured approach to creating compelling video content, drawing
from extensive research and analysis of successful channels like MrBeast, MrBeast Gaming,
Ryan Trahan, and EYstreem. It incorporates best practices into a narrative format designed to
engage and retain viewers from start to finish.

Introduction
1) Instant pay-off
Begin with an attention-grabbing scenario that acts as a story hook, hinting at the
most exciting part of the story. This can be done by showing the end result at the
beginning of the video or dropping the viewer into the tensest part of the video. You
need to make sure that you are paying off your packaging almost instantly when
people click onto your video, as viewers are always looking for reasons to put their
attention elsewhere and click off your video.

Example: Showcasing a $100M Mansion immediately, fulfilling the viewer's

expectations set by the video's packaging.

2) Establish Conflict
Introduce a problem or challenge early on to act as a question hook, making viewers
ponder what the video will resolve. Similar to how your packaging should open
multiple curiosity loops, you should be establishing enough problems and conflicts at
the start of your video that the viewer feels the need to get resolved by watching the
rest of your video.

Example: Posing the question, "Will the hero defeat the monster?"

3) Introduce Stakes
Outline the potential losses or gains from the outcome, providing a reason to care
about the video's resolution. This statement hook should also emphasize the scale of
the video's premise. Without having high enough stakes in the video there is limited
need for the viewer to continue on giving their attention.

Example: “The world will end if I don't get it back.”

Act 1: Setting the Stage

In the initial phase of the video, we instantly capture the audience's attention by diving into
an attention-grabbing scenario, directly showcasing the most thrilling part of the narrative.
For instance, the video might open with a visual of a $100M Mansion, immediately fulfilling
the viewer's expectations set by the thumbnail or title. This instant pay-off acts as a
compelling story hook.

Shortly after, we quickly establish a conflict, presenting a problem or challenge that hooks
the viewer with a pressing question, such as "Will the hero defeat the monster?" This sets
the narrative motion and engages the audience's curiosity. Following this, we introduce the
stakes, outlining what is to be lost or gained, thereby investing the viewer emotionally and
intellectually in the outcome. This segment not only grounds the viewer in the narrative but
also sets the scale of the adventure, signaling that what follows is of significant
consequence.

Act 2: Developing the Story

As the story unfolds, Act 2 deepens the narrative by exploring various aspects of the topic or
story in a more detailed manner. Tension builds through the introduction of conflicts,
challenges, or unexpected twists, keeping viewers engaged and on the edge of their
seats. The difficulty of the obstacles faced by the protagonist escalates, illustrating the
stakes and the scale of the challenge. New characters or subjects may be introduced to
add complexity and enrich the narrative.

This act also focuses on character development, showing how the protagonist evolves or
acquires new skills essential for overcoming the trials ahead. To ensure the audience
remains hooked, re-engagement points are strategically placed throughout this act. These
could be new discoveries, significant twists, or revelations that act as milestones
towards the climax, each designed to rekindle interest and push the narrative forward. The
act employs a re-engagement loop, with each section ending on a note that leaves the
audience eagerly anticipating what comes next, effectively maintaining a grip on their
attention.

Re-Engagement Points Examples:

Example 1: "Recalls loved ones - doesn’t want the world to end. Reinforces stakes."
Example 2: "Discovering the monsters weakness"
Example 3: "Finding the weapon to defeat the monster"

Act 3: Climax and resolution

The narrative reaches its climax in Act 3, where the protagonist faces the ultimate
challenge or confrontation. This act showcases the culmination of the protagonist's journey,
highlighting how the skills or knowledge acquired are put to the test in overcoming this
final obstacle. The resolution strategy is crucial here, as it demonstrates the protagonist's
growth and ingenuity.

The climax resolves the primary conflict introduced at the beginning, providing a
satisfying conclusion to the central narrative question. To add an extra layer of engagement
and leave a lasting impression on the viewer, a final twist or reveal can be included,

offering additional value and a memorable ending to the story. This act not only concludes
the narrative but also ensures that the viewer leaves with a sense of closure and
fulfillment, having been taken on a complete and compelling journey from beginning to end.

Additional Notes
The success of a video not only hinges on its narrative structure but also on its ability to
connect emotionally with the audience. Emotional segmentation plays a pivotal role in
this aspect, ensuring that the video does not monotonously stick to a single emotional tone
throughout. By designing segments of the video to evoke different emotions—ranging from
joy to sadness, tension to relief—the content becomes more engaging and dynamic. This
emotional diversity is crucial for maintaining viewer retention, as it mirrors the complexity
of real-life experiences, making the narrative more relatable and captivating. The emotions in
each segment are accentuated through the use of music, pacing, editing styles, and
visual cues, creating a rich, multi-layered viewing experience that resonates on a deeper
level with the audience.

Pacing is another critical element that significantly impacts viewer engagement. The
narrative must move at a rhythm that aligns with the audience's expectations and attention
spans. However, it's essential to strike a balance—ensuring the story unfolds at a pace that
is brisk yet allows enough depth and detail to keep the viewer fully immersed and invested in
the narrative. The pacing should facilitate a smooth flow from one act to the next,
seamlessly connecting the dots of the story while keeping the viewer intrigued and eager to
see what happens next. This approach ensures that the video remains engaging throughout
its duration, maximizing retention and satisfaction.
