Why is Geothermal
energy the best resource
to use ?
First, Let's know
what Geothermal
Energy is
How does geothermal heat form?
-it forms because of the high
temperature and pressure in Earth's
interior.

- Temperatures at the core–mantle

boundary can reach over 4000 °C
(7200 °F).

-It comes from heat generated during the

original formation of the planet and the
radioactive decay of materials.
How does geothermal heat get from the interior of the earth
to the surface?

-At the moment, the most

prevalent method of extracting
energy from geothermal
sources is to use naturally
occurring "hydrothermal
convection" systems, in which
cooler water penetrates into
the Earth's crust, heats up, and
then rises to the surface.
What is the maximum temperature that geothermal
heating can reach?
-Heat pipes extract and
"amplify" heat, lowering the
temperature range to 5 °C (41
°F). Geothermal heat at a
temperature of more than
150 degrees Celsius (302
degrees Fahrenheit) is
commonly used to generate
electricity.
How does geothermal heat form?
-Geothermal power plants are
generally built where geothermal
reservoirs are located, within a mile or
two of the earth's surface.
-Heat within the Earth's crust is
generated from radioactive decay of
minerals and continual heat loss from
when the Earth was formed 4.6 billion
years ago.
-Permeability fluids must come into
contact with the heated rock via fractures
and pore spaces.
3 main types of geothermal power plants
Dry steam plants: These plants use dry
steam that is naturally produced in the
ground.

Flash cycle steam plants: These types are

the most common due to the lack of
naturally occurring high-quality steam.
The cost of these systems is increased
due to more complex parts, however
they can still compete with
conventional power sources.
Is geothermal energy safe to use?
When done properly yes,
Geothermal energy is safe.
As with any industrial
project there are risks
involved, but when
geothermal energy is
extracted from the right
location it is not
dangerous.
Why is geothermal energy important?
-Geothermal energy is important
because it is one of the most promising
among renewable energy sources.

-Geothermal energy is important when

used in industries for the purpose of
food dehydration, milk pasteurizing,
gold mining, etc.

-Geothermal energy is also important

when used to heat buildings through
district heating systems
ADVANTAGES
OF
GEOTHERMAL
ENERGY
Geothermal energy is environmentally friendly

-Geothermal energy is more

environmentally friendly than
conventional fuel sources such as coal and
other fossil fuels.

-In addition, the carbon footprint of a

geothermal power plant is low. While there
is some pollution associated with
geothermal energy, this is relatively
minimal when compared to fossil fuels.

-Geothermal provides a reliable source of

energy as compared to other renewable
resources such as wind and solar power.
Growth of geothermal energy

Geothermal electricity has

enormous ability for
growth. The quantity of
warmth inside 10 000
meters of the earth's floor
is expected to include 50
000 times more energy
than all oil and gas assets
worldwide as of 2013.
Maintaining a geothermal power plant

Geothermal power
plants are known to
be quite costly, but
it’s only inclined
towards the
construction and the
early stages of it.
