1. Measuring- a small useful tool to measure small
distances. The sewing gauge can measure hemlines, tucks and pleats as well as the spaces required for buttons and buttonholes. This tool can come with a sliding guide to easily mark out your measurements. Across Shoulder, Bust/Chest, Hip, HPS to Apex, Vertical Trunk, CF Neck to Waist, CB Neck to Waist, and Waist to Hip Length are the main measurements taken when having a piece of clothing sewn.
2. Marking- are meant to transfer notations or designs for
use while quilting or sewing. There are many reasons quilters and sewists use marking tools; marking where two pieces should meet, marking a quilt design on a quilt top, tracing a pattern onto fabric, just to name just a few.
3. Cutting- The best sewing scissors are specially
designed to cut fabric. Your fabric scissors (also called shears or dressmakers scissors) should be sharp enough to cut through several layers of fabric at one time.
4. Drafting-the process of creating a flat pattern on paper
from measurements or from draping a fabric on a dress form. This method is used to create the basic shapes that will be used to create the garment. It's more mathematical and technical than draping.
5. Pressing-smoothing and shaping garments or articles
with heat, moisture, and pressure with an iron. Pressing gives a smooth, well-made look. 6. Materials- the necessary tools needed by every quilter and sewist. They include pins, needles, thread, thimble, scissors, seam ripper, marking tools, rulers, tape measure in a storage or travel container.
7. Pinning and sewing tools
Pinning- Pins. You'll rarely make a piece without using straight pins. Pincushion. A pincushion is a helpful tool to keep your pins organized and at hand when you need them. Seam Ripper. A seam ripper does exactly what it's name implies. Iron and Ironing Board. Thimble. Sewing Needles. Scissors. Presser Feet. Sewing tools-sewing tools are instruments or devices used for sewing and stitching fabric and other materials. Some common sewing tools include sewing machines, needles, pins, scissors, measuring tape, thimbles, seam rippers, thread, and fabric marking tools. These tools are essential for various sewing projects and are used by both professional seamstresses and hobbyists.
