(What is Faith?

)
Rooted in spirituality, psychology, and philosophy, Faith is a
multifaceted concept that holds a place of profound significance in
various aspects of life. Whether it's religious beliefs, personal
aspirations, or the way we navigate the uncertainties of the world,
faith serves as a guiding force that often shapes our perspectives and
actions.
Apostle Paul defines faith as : “Now faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Emunah,
which means "support," is the word for faith in Hebrew. The Lord is
working in every circumstance for his glory, so faith is like "the
Lord's support" to us. This is a perfect description of how faith works.

(How Faith Impacts our Christian Journey?)

Faith is at the heart of the Christian walk, encapsulating the
unwavering trust and belief in the divine. It is the belief in the truths
of the Gospel, the trust in God's promises, and the acceptance of Jesus
Christ as Savior and Lord. Without faith, there can be no initial
relationship with Christ. When we have faith, we gain perspective and
a sense of direction in life. We also understand that our ultimate goal
is to glorify God and live for Him.
As Christians embark on their spiritual journey, faith serves as the
guiding light that illuminates the path ahead. A fundamental truth is
revealed in Hebrews 11:6 (NIV): "And without faith it is impossible
to please God for he who comes to him must believe that he is and
that he rewards those who seek him with their whole heart”. This
verse highlights the importance of faith as a motivator for seeking a
closer relationship with God as well as a belief in His existence.
We find numerous examples of people whose unwavering faith
inspired them to accomplish extraordinary deeds in the Bible. The
willingness of Abraham to offer his son as a sacrifice, Noah's building
of the ark, and David's battle with Goliath all serve as examples of
how faith can motivate bold actions that are in line with God's
purposes.
It is often said that the Christian life is a journey, not a destination.
The journey to a meaningful Christian life involves a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ, learning and growing in faith, and
actively living out one’s beliefs. Faith can be strengthened by using
weights, just like a muscle. Weights are the resistance—doubts, inner
chatter, and external factors that contradict what faith must believe.
Through life's trials and triumphs, our faith is tested, refined, and
solidified. Our faith makes it easier for us to put our trust in God's
plan and direction. It gives us comfort knowing that everything
happens for a reason and that God is in control.

(Growth in Christ and the development of Faith)

A relationship with God that grows over time is the hallmark of the
Christian life. To "grow in Christ" is to develop a closer relationship
with Him. It entails developing your knowledge of Christ and
strengthening your love and submission for him. Although faith is a
gift, as the Bible Dictionary states, "it must be nurtured and sought
after until it grows from a tiny seed to a great tree. Having faith that
Jesus is alive and working through you leads to spiritual growth.

Jesus narrates a made-up scene of a farmer sowing seeds in the Bible.

Only the seeds that land on healthy soil grow into strong plants. Some
seeds fall on the path, some on rocky areas, some on thorny areas, and
some seeds fall on good soil (Matthew 13:3–8). The person who hears
and comprehends the Word of God is the person whose faith
increases. This is what it means to mature spiritually. Just as in any
relationship, spending time together, learning about the other person,
and trusting them more over time leads to a deeper connection.
Similarly, spending time in prayer, studying the Bible, and engaging
in Christian community helps believers grow in their understanding of
God and His character.

Faith plays a significant role in our spiritual growth. Just as a seed

grows into a mature plant through proper nurturing, a believer's
growth in Christ is intrinsically tied to the development of their faith.
Faith is not stagnant; it evolves through experiences, trials, and the
intentional pursuit of spiritual growth.
The development of faith in Christ is also closely tied to the
transformation of character. As believers submit to Christ's lordship
and seek to align their lives with His teachings, they undergo a
process of sanctification—a gradual becoming more like Christ in
character and conduct. As we pray, study, experiment, try, watch, and
reflect, our relationship with God and our faith grows. It gradually has
an impact on our intentions, priorities, and behaviours.
