Model 8256

Differential / Vacuum/
Low Pressure Switch

FEATURES
■ VIBRATION RESISTANT

■ RUGGED DESIGN
Model 8256 Switches are specifically designed for use on
■ UNIQUE UNION vibrating equipment such as heavy duty engines, compres-
sors, pumps, and other industrial applications. They are
■ RAINTIGHT HOUSING suitable for control, safety and warning systems on both
mobile and stationary engines, generator sets, irrigation

machines, etc.

Model 8256 switches feature two overlapping ranges cov-

ering 0.5 - 10.0 psi (3.4 68.9 kPa). A unique union nut
connects the switch housing to the pressure sensor allow-
ing the sensor to be installed in tight quarters or the switch

loss of coolant vides the rugged switch housing. Full gasket seals provide
a raintight unit designed to meet Enclosure 3 requirements
■ HIGH FILTER DIFFERENTIAL of NEMA, UL, and CSA. A diaphragm operated pressure
sensor provides repeatable trip settings on rising or falling
pressure, vacuum or differential pressure.
■ COMPRESSOR SUCTION AND DIS-
CHARGE PRESSURES AMOT Model 8250 Series fills the need for a reliable switch
at a low initial cost. Their long service life reduces mainte-

can be used in hazardous areas if used with an intrinsically
safe electronic enumerator.

When ordering please specify the following: TYPICAL APPLICATION

1.AMOT Model 8256 Differential/
Vacuum/Low Pressure Switch.
2. Pressure Setting.
3. Pressure Range, see Table B. If no range is
specified, the one will be chosen where the pres
sure setting falls nearest the center of the range.
4. Tripping Action:
a.To trip on rising pressure or increasing vacuum.
b. To trip on falling pressure or decreasing vacuum.
c. To trip on increasing differential pressure.
d. To trip on decreasing differential pressure.
5.Any of the following special features, if required:
a.British Standard Pipe (BSP) connection threads,
instead of NPT. Available from U.K. factory only.
b. M20 X 1.5 or PG13.5 conduit threads, instead
of NPT. Available from U.K. factory only.
These units may be ordered by using the full description shown above
or by constructing a Model No. using the Model Code System. The
complete Model No. for a standard differential pressure switch with NPT
threads and trip setting of 3 psi on decreasing differential pressure is
“8256A12AK set a 3 psi decreasing differential”.

high quality standards are met. For good product life,
carefully follow AMOT’s installation and maintenance in-
structions; failure to do so could result in damage to the
equipment being protected or controlled.
