Chapter 35 DARE TO TELL

 Chapter starts with Papa writing a letter to children in which he tells how all the
adults used to tell stories to them.
 Papa writes a story about Leopard and Tortoise to give children some strength.
 You may eat me, but its my struggle that shall be remembered.
 If we keep quiet about injustice, it wins.
 Across the oceans of time, words are mightier than sword.

Chapter 36 SORRY
 Winters are n their peak as mist is spread everywhere ans Sade remembers her
grandmother telling them stories of people lost in the woods due to mist.
 Sade apoogizes to Marium for stealing the lighter and tell her everything crystal
clear.
 Mariam is not surprised because that’s what they had done with her too.
 She said that we all (mother, uncle and I) knew that they’ve started this with
you. To me, they asked for a gold pen and uncle gave me anyways to give it to
them and make them think that I’ve stolen it because he said these people are
no good, don’t fight them and its better to keep away.
 She says that I thought you don’t want to remain friends with me .
 They walk to their English class and boom! They’re late, arrived while
attendance.
 Donna creates disturbance in the class. Morris wants to have a word with Sade.
This makes her swim in crazy ideas and she passes out.
 She woke up in a sick room with Ms. Harcourt. She haers the staff say “If we had
known before… help… cope” which makes her think that everybody knows
about their story and Papa. She passes out again and is woken up at her house.
She is gaining consciousness after longer periods of time and at home she hears
the doctor saying that she has taken much stress of current happenings which
she couldn’t bear.
 She is not eating because of her father’s hunger strike as she is really attached to
her father.
 She loses her consciousness by hearing this again, and the chapter ends.

Chapter 37 BLAME

 Sade is not feeling well and when Aunt Gracie brings her soup along with a tray
of flowers with Jamaica, she remembers Mama doing the same.
 Aunt Gracie asks her that Mama would want her to regain the strength and face
everything with courage and confidence. This made Sade vulnerable. She takes
some sips of the sup and Aunt Gracie leaves.
 She tries to go back to her bed but instead watches the bouquet. She wants to
make a Christmas card for Marium and her family where she tends to apologize
to her also for her stealing act.
 She picks up a white card and some pens and draw a scenery.
 But, in the middle, she thinks that may be Marium and her family wouldn’t
accept my card.
 She then gets angry as to why does she needs to endure all this torture. Can’t
Papa remain quiet like Marium’s uncle?
 Femi enters the rooms and Sade scolds her and asks her to leave the room. Then
and there she recalls Mama saying “Evil enters like a needle and spreads like an
oak tree”.
 This makes her frustrated, and then followed her episode of guilt that she was
the reason her mother died. Only if that day she left the room earlier so Mama
would have been alive today.
