How to Read this Reading
Planets, signs and houses are relatively simple symbols on their own, but
become very complex due to the sheer number of their combinations,
which must be considered holistically and simultaneously. To avoid getting
sunk in a bewildering soup of symbolic quicksand, always follow these two
golden rules: Context & Resonance.

The Rule of Context: Interpretations of less

fundamental, less prominent things have to be
framed within the context of the interpretations
derived from the more fundamental, more
prominent things.

I've organized the presentation so it starts with the more fundamental and
prominent things and works downward from there. So, just remember to
understand the interpretations of later things in ways that are relevant to
the earlier interpretations, and you'll be able to sort out the tangential
from the essential.

This report has two major sections. The first describes the nakṣatra, signs,
and yogas which set up the foundation for interpreting your planets. The
second section reveals specific interpretations, by examining each of your
planets in context of the background foundations.

The Rule of Resonance: In combining symbols, what's

important is what they have in common or in direct contrast;
everything else is tangential.

When you read a given interpretation in this report, always ask, "What does this have in common or
in direct contrast with the things I've already heard?" If the answer is "Not much", the topic will
likely prove tangential. Set it aside for now. When you read something that does have a lot in common
with what you've already read in the report, you're exploring a main pillar of the chart, crucial to
understanding the main aspects of yourself and your life. Focus on it.

"Clashes" happen when the same basic theme arises, but with opposite specifics (one interpretation
says "very rich" another says "very poor"). These point towards parts of your life where there is
complexity, confusion, conflict, and challenge.

"Synergies" happen when the same theme arises with complimentary specifics (both interpretations
says "very rich"). These point to clear and consistent aspects of your life, and are thus more likely to
be positive and fortunate.

Apply these principles patiently, and you will definitely get very clear, accurate meta-interpretations
from all the puzzle pieces I will present here.
Nakṣatra - The Vedic Stars

Nakṣatra are stars. They are much deeper in space than the signs ("rāśī"), and are the foundation of
the truly ancient Vedic science of astrology ("jyotiṣa"). Here is a version of your chart that highlights
the positions of the planets relative to the nakṣatra at the moment you were born.

The Nakṣatra rising in the east (Śravaṇa) and the Nakṣatra housing the Moon (Ārdrā) are
particularly important. I'll begin forming an image of your chart's background context by looking at
these two nakṣatra.
Q श्रवण Ascendant Nakṣatra: Śravaṇa
Śravaṇa:
The Listener
Symbol:
Three footprints; an ear
Type:
Mobile
Divinity:
Viṣṇu - god of existence
Keywords:
Sound, listening, learning
Śravaṇa is an excellent star for moving things back and forth, especially moving
information. Thus it signifies intelligence and education, and has a special affinity for
sound, hearing, and words. Śravaṇa inspires us to learn, ask intelligent questions,
listen carefully to answers, and seek qualified teachers. It is one of the few stars that
pleasantly turns us towards spiritual enlightenment.

B आर्द्रा Moon Nakṣatra: Ārdrā

Ārdrā:
The Storm
Symbol:
Rain drops
Type:
Bitter
Divinity:
Rudra - god of storms
Keywords:
Storms, destruction, frustration, blockade, intelligent spirituality
Ārdrā is the storm that we must weather so that our nature can once again become
pure and clean. It represents all the things we must overcome before we can prosper.
It allows us to destroy inauspicious things and forget what should be forgotten.
The Ascendant &
Rāśī
The main anchor-point (लग्न - lagna) of every
birth chart is the "Ascendant" - the location of
the Eastern horizon in the Zodiac. The sign in
which your Ascendant lies contributes
significantly to establishing the background
context for interpreting the chart.
Q in k Aquarius
Key Phrase: Eclectic Servant
Aquarius wants to examine the pros and cons of all
things, and is willing to make personal sacrifice for
the sake of the groups it belongs to.

It is strong in humility, but weak in individual confidence.

Body: Tall, elongated, thin, hairy.

The "navāṁśa" are subsections within zodiac signs. By
dividing the signs into smaller sections, they refine and
clarify what the sign signifies at specific degrees within it.
Your ascendant is at 4º k - which puts it in the Scorpio
subsection (navāṁśa) of Aquarius.

Envision how the symbolism of Aquarius interacts with the

symbolism of Scorpio, focusing on the themes of the two
which directly overlap or clash.

Here are the most important themes of Scorpio:

Key Phrase: Defiant Passions

Scorpio is the zodiac’s most passionate sign; with
bold emotions and ambitious desires that defy governance and operate mysteriously.

It is strong for its ability to drill passionately into the deepest depths of things, but weak in
cooperation and sympathy.
Here is a diagram that more thoroughly details the essential topics symbolized by Aquarius.

The taller the bar, the more important the planet. Mars has the tallest bar because it is your most
important planet. Other important planets in your chart are: Jupiter, Moon, and Rahu in that
order. The interpretations we make for these planets will define the main and most tangible themes of
your life. Ketu is the least prominent planet in your chart, so its interpretation is also important, and
can show what lacks from your life.

The greener the bar, the more positive the planet. A number in each bar gives the exact value. For
example your most positive planet, Moon, has 71% positivity and your least positive planet, Mercury,
has 47% positivity. (50% is average - neither positive nor negative. 30% is about the most negative

positive ramifications when interpreting it, and visa versa.

Basic Yogas
Now let's look for some of the classic "yogas" of
Vedic Astrology which are intended for getting a
basic overview of the general potentials and
scope of the chart overall.
Balance of Nakṣatra Types
The 27 nakṣatra are categorized into 6 groups: mobile, quick, sweet, enduring, strong and bitter. Here
is a graph showing the prominence of each type in you.

Mobile Quick Sweet Enduring Strong Bitter

24% 11% 11% 14% 13% 18%

Mobile

Sweet

Enduring

Strong

Bitter

Mobile Adventure & pleasure. A bold, outgoing enjoyer.

Quick Efficacious. Good at accomplishing things.

Sweet Tender, sensitive, and beautiful. Beautiful and good in romance and love.

Enduring Patience, longevity, and endurance. Good at making things last.

Strong Strength, power, and bravery. Good at defending, conquering and punishing.

Bitter Intrigue, espionage, pain. Good at defeating, undermining, and destroying.

Balance of Rāśī Elements
The 12 signs (rāśī) are composed of 4 elements: fire, earth, air, and water. Here is a graph showing the
prominence of each element in you.

Fire Earth Air Water

31% 15% 26% 28%

Fire

Earth

Air

Water

Excessive Fire :: Deficient Earth

Excessive fire implies too much clarity, decisiveness, vision, leadership,

intent, bravery, power, & authority, coupled with lack of gentility, relaxation &
sympathy.

Deficient earth implies lack of stability, reliability, solidity, standardization;

practicality; health, beauty, fertility; & wealth, coupled with too much flexibility,
newness, & imagination.

This combination suggests impractical ambitions, changing goals, short-term

strength lacking long-term staying-power.
Be sure to look at the bars above. The further they extend to the left or right, the
more pronounced the effects noted.
Balance of Rāśī Modes
The 12 signs (rāśī) have 3 modes: cardinal, fixed, dual, and . Here is a graph showing the prominence of
each mode in you.

Cardinal Fixed Dual

39% 38% 23%

Cardinal

Fixed

Dual

Dual is Deficient

The dual mode does two things at the same time, without fully committing to either.

This suggests lack of ability to multi-task effectively; and lack of exploration of alternative goals or
ways of accomplishing goals.

Be sure to look at the bars above. The further they extend to the left or right, the
more pronounced the effects noted.
The Artist (vīṇā yoga - वीनायोग)
This yoga forms when...

The planets (excluding Rāhu and Ketu) occupy seven houses.

Phaladīpikā 6:39-41 -- Vīṇā

This excellent and fairly rare yoga suggests success,

talent and learning in many fields,
particularly in creative arts (dance, music,
drama, writing, etc.).

General Scope
This yoga forms when...

The Moon is 3, 6, 9, or 12 signs from the Sun

BPHS ch. 37 (candrayoga):1

This yoga generally increases positive

interpretations of the chart, implying that
even the challenges in life will be sources of
significant growth.
Prosperity (dhana yoga - धनयोग)
This yoga forms when...

The Moon's growth houses (3, 6, 10, and 11 from the

Moon) contain one, two, or all three benefic planets (Venus,
Jupiter and Mercury)

BPHS ch. 37 (Candrayoga):6

The more benefics in these houses, the more you can

grow and prosper even from challenges and
difficulties.
You have one of the benefics in these houses.

Gentle or Strong (śubhāśubha yoga - शुभाशुभयोग)

This yoga forms when...

Gentle planets (Venus, Jupiter or Mercury) are alone in the

1st house, or in both the 2nd and 12th houses.

Strong planets (Mars, Saturn or Sun) are in that situation.

BPHS ch. 38 (Vividhayoga):1-2 Śubhāśudha

You have the Strong Yoga, which suggests that

your nature is basically more like the strict, strong,
tough planets (Mars, Saturn and Sun) which are more
disciplinarian, and unforgiving.
The blessing here is great strength and courage, but the
weakness is in situations requiring gentle
sensitivity and grace.
Moon Neighbors
This yoga forms when...

The Moon has planets (not counting the Sun, Rāhu, or

Ketu) in one or more of her two neighboring houses.

BPHS ch. 37 (Candrayoga):7 Sunapha, Anapha, Duradhara

Planets in the 12th House from the Moon symbolize the

lens through which your mind takes in the world. Planets
in the 2nd House from the Moon symbolize the lens
through which your inner self expresses itself to the
world.

You have planets in the Moon's 12th house.

Jupiter in the Moon's 12th House

Majestic & deep; intelligent & learned; fond of
debate; made famous by a king.
Sārāvalī 13:17

Taking in the world through Jupiter signifies gaining deeper philosophical "filters" through
which to see the world; assessing the value and merit of things and enjoying discussions on
those topics. It supports an ability to advise and council others.
Sun Neighbors
This yoga forms when...

The Sun has planets (not counting the Moon, Rāhu, or

Ketu) in one or more of his two neighboring houses.

BPHS ch. 38 (Suryayoga):1 Veśi, Vośi, Abhayacara

Note: Mercury and Venus are almost always in these

positions, so they need not be considered significant. Mars,
Jupiter or Saturn take precedence over them.

Planets in the 12th House from the Sun symbolize the lens
through which take in the world to build your identity.
Planets in the 2nd House from the Sun symbolize the lens
through which you express your identity to the world.

You have planets in the Sun's 2nd house.

Mercury in the Sun's 2nd House

Soft spoken; modest & humble; poor & servile.
Sārāvalī 14:4

The Sun expressing its identity through Mercury suggests timidity, resulting from the effort
to be liked and heard by others. This generates a self-negating tendency which can be
modest in the right contexts, but in adverse contexts manifests as low self-confidence and
poor self-esteem.
House Exchange (parivartana yoga - परिवर्तनयोग)
This yoga forms if...

The lord of House A is in House B,

-and-
The lord of House B is in House A.

In your chart this happens with houses:

2 and 5

A circuit formed between the 2nd and 5th

house indicates good intellect and learning,
good morals - responsible love, strong family
and good children.
Empowerment (rāja yoga - राजयोग)
This yoga forms when...

Lords of kendra (houses 1, 4, 7, and 10) combine with

lords of kona (houses 1, 5, and 9)
-or-
Rāhu or ketu are in a kendra conjoined or aspected by a

Mars symbolizes पुरुषस्वभाव (puruṣa-svabhāva) -
something we generally refer to in English as
"masculinity."

Because of this, the red far-roaming Mars symbolizes strength, self-

reliance, and inceptivity; bold, powerful qualities which produce bravery
and willpower, ambition and independence, yet also lead to conflict and
strife.

creates strong dedication to clear objectives and fosters the ability to achieve those
goals by any means necessary.
To intuit the specific effect of Mars in Viśākhā just envision how the symbols of Mars might
unfold amidst the conditions found in Viśākhā. For example, Mars in Viśākhā
depicts very strong determination, willpower, and self-discipline;
decesive dedication to objectives and goals, with formidible power and
strength to stay on track until the goal is achieved.
Signs
"Planets" are the lights in the sky that move independently. The 12 signs of the Zodiac are twelve
regions of the space they move through (The 27 Nakṣatras are similarly regions of deeper space). We
interpret a planet's placement in any sign by allowing the symbolism of that sign to interact with the
symbolism of that planet. Your Mars is in Scorpio, so let's explore the implications of that now.

E ➾ h — Mars in Scorpio
Scorpio:

Key Phrase: Defiant Passions

Scorpio is the zodiac’s most passionate sign; with bold emotions and
ambitious desires that defy governance and operate mysteriously.

It is strong for its ability to drill passionately into the deepest depths of
things, but weak in cooperation and sympathy.

If we hold these symbols of Scorpio next to the symbols of

Mars and look for common themes, we can intuit the
implications of their combination.

Mars in Scorpio:

Mars in its own passionate sign

suggests a passionate, strong-
willed person, who experiences life deeply,
unafraid of risk and injury. It depicts strong,
independent opinions and readiness to express
and defend them. On this basis, it sugests a capable
leader, able to take decisive stands; unafraid of
contest and competition; heroic and
charismatically attractive.

An astrological "aspect" is how planets "glance" and thus affect things they are not physically near in
the chart. A conjunction is how planets affect things the are physically near. Here is a graph of the
most important aspects and conjunctions to Mars, with percentages showing their relative
prominence. To simplify and help us focus I have omitted minor aspects and conjunctions that fall
below a certain threshold of prominence. The higher the percentage, the more significant the effect of
the influence.

Fully interpreting these influences involves many factors, including the house from which the
influences come, the houses owned by the influencer, etc. Nonetheless, we can get a great deal of
information simply by considering how the inherent symbolism of the influencer combines with the
inherent symbolism of Mars, which I will explain for you here:

Saturn ➾ Mars:

Jupiter ➾ Mars:
78%

Influence of Saturn on Mars (100%)

The group-oriented nature of Saturn clashes with the independent nature of Mars,
suggesting relationship difficulties, stemming from unnecessarily
independent tendencies.
The humble nature of Saturn clashes with the ambitious nature of Mars,
suggesting a pessimistic, critical outlook, "everything is useless;"
lowering or abandoning ambitions due to feeling doubt that
achieving them is possible or worth the effort.

This is a mutual aspect (99%) so it's very important!

This is the 3rd time Mars and Saturn have influenced each other
(counting varga-sign rulers, and aspects)

Influence of Jupiter on Mars (78%)

Mars and Jupiter are both energetic, and this synergy depicts a powerful,
forceful, energetic person; but likely to become scattered and
unfocused.
Mars is an impatient order-giver while Jupiter is a patient explainer. This clash
depicts inability to be either fully authoritarian or fully
egalitarian in leadership style. Oscillation between the two
tends to "preach" when it should "teach" and "command"
where it should "advise."

Houses
Similar to the nakṣatra and signs (rāśī), houses are also areas of space that the planets move through.
While the nakṣatra are regions of deep space and the signs (rāśī) are regions of local space, the houses
are regions of the closest space of all: sky itself, based on the Earth's own horizons. As with nakṣatra
and rāśī, we interpret a planet's placement in any house by allowing the symbolism of that house to
interact with the symbolism of that planet. Your Mars is in the 10th House. Let's explore that now.

E Mars in the 10th House

The 10th House:

Public Self is the keyword describing the 10th House.

This house symbolizes the role we play in society - our

career, and the status, visibility, and
fame involved in it.

It symbolizes movement.

It also symbolizes our father.

To envision what Mars symbolizes in the 10th

House, look for common or directly
contrasting themes between the two.

Mars in the 10th House:

Mars in the 10th House suggests an individualist;

independent and self-sufficient; strong in
willpower and discipline and therefore serious
and commanding in nature; ambitious and
courageous, and therefore entrepreneurial in
career.
Mars is in the 10th House twice in your charts (counting vargas and the moon-
chart)
Lordships of Mars
"Lord" sounds like a big word, but it just means "owner." Planets own signs and therefore own houses,
too - since houses are defined by the the borders of the signs. Mars owns Aries and Scorpio. In your
chart, these signs define your 3rd and 10th houses, making Mars your "3rd and 10th lord in the 10th
House." We can interpret the symbolic combination of these houses.

E Mars as the lord of the 3rd in the 10th

The lord of ambition in the house of recognition suggests a bold, and
adventurous nature. The lord of skill here suggests that one is recognized
for one's talents. The lord of independence here suggests self-
employment.

E Mars as the lord of the 10th in the 10th

The lord of visibility in the house of visibility suggests being confident as a
visible, important person in a significant role. Thus it also bodes well
for potential career success and stability. Further, it also suggests direct,
straightforward honesty and transparency.
Remember, the hard (but important) part is melding each separate bit of interpretation into larger and
larger wholes. When trying to do that, focus most on asking "how does this bit directly clash or harmonize
with that other bit?" When you find such direct clashes or harmonies, you have located very important
interpretative themes in your chart. And remember, clashes tend towards difficult interpretations,
harmonies tend towards pleasant ones.
Yogas Involving Mars
1. "Empowerment" - suggesting empowerment in connection to Mars.
(already described)
2. "Great Person" - suggesting success with the qualities of Mars.

E Mars in the Moon's 5th House

The independence of Mars clashes with the 5th House's love, depicting a person
with fewer relationships, uninterested in romance; or challenged
to comprehend the selfless nature of true love.
Mars' independence also clashes with the 5th House as a symbol of children,
suggesting a person disinclined to marriage and children.

The practical nature of Mars, however, does work well with the intellectual
capacities of the 5th house, to the effect of signifying comprehension of
technology and other tools; and an independent way of thinking.

E Mars as the lord of the 10th in the Moon's 5th

The lord of recognition and career in the house of intellect suggests a career
directly involving your creativity and intellect.

E Mars as the lord of the 5th in the Moon's 5th

The lord of intellect, love, and children in its own house protects all its themes,
suggesting the virtues of love, compassion and generousity; a
good intellect, able to think creatively; good education; good
children.
The Vargas of Mars
To more clearly distinguish each degree in the Zodiac, we
divide each sign into subsections called aṁśa (अंश), each of
which has its own sign. These aṁśa split the signs into
halves, thirds, fifths, sevenths, ninths and so on. Each way
of splitting the signs - called a varga (वर्ग) - is relevant to a
specific area of life.

This system gives a planet many different dignities

simultaneously, each one pertaining primarily to the area
of life associated with that varga. Checking the dignities of
a planet through its vargas tells us how well suited that
planet is towards the varga's area of life.

Now let's look into signs that your Mars occupies

throughout these divisions. In particular, look for
extremely high or low dignities, to identify areas in which your Mars-qualities easily excel, or where
you need to make more careful effort and exercise caution.

It will take time, study, and careful contemplation to read the sophisticated, detailed implications
from this section, so be patient with it and let it unfold naturally.

F Jupiter
Jupiter symbolizes प्रवृत्ति (pravṛtti) - something we
generally refer to in English as "positivity."

Positivity includes all ramifications of positive growth, expansion and

abundance. It also refers to the positive, optimistic frame of mind
essential to trust and faith - which is why Jupiter has so much to do
with morals and religion, as well as learning and guidance. Positivity is
also the summary of everything good, and Jupiter is also simply a
symbol of goodness.

Kṛttikā is “bright” – brilliant, intellectual, and quick to digest. It is a star of insight,
incisiveness, and dissection. It is analytical and critical and therefore not favorable
towards things requiring tender care.

Jupiter in Kṛttikā depicts unwillingness to accept anything at face

value; ability to dissect information and scrutinize it, therefore prone
to clashes of opinion with people, including teachers; possible
difficulties in relationships with children.

Jupiter in Gemini:

The intellectual nature of Gemini

certainly harmonizes well with the

approach to life and to its deeper meanings; well-
educated from a broad base of teachers and
schools of thought; a philosophical person, with
an intelligent manner of exploring both secualar

As the Moon reflects sunlight into the dark night, the mind reflects the
soul's consciousness into the world. It is therefore the subjective lens

desires and emotions that result. This monarch of the night sky is, like

very important to all matters of timing and rhythm.

Secondary Planets
Be aware that the context set by the main planets
can very significantly bend and change how the
secondary planets should be interpreted. Where
their interpretations are in line with the primary
interpretations, take them as is. Where they
contradict the primary interpretations, however,
either disregard them or consider them merely
indicators of nuances and subtexts in your life.
Ideally, if you can, try to combine the symbolism
in different ways to reach an interpretation that
doesn't contradict the primary interpretations.
D Venus
Venus symbolizes स्त्रीस्वभाव (strī-svabhāva) - something
we generally refer to in English as "femininity."

The most beautiful of all stars, Venus symbolizes the key facets of
femininity - beauty, love, and receptivity. Beauty is in the object as
well as the beholder - so Venus also symbolizes the sophistication and
acuity of our senses. Love is a verb as well as noun, so Venus also
symbolizes what love does: creates harmony, cooperation and partnership.

Aries is boldly independent and fearlessly adventurous about leading ones

Its strength is in individuality and independence. Its weakness is in

Venus in Aries:

The overriding clash between Aries

and Venus concerns their root themes
of masculinity and femininity. It
depicts excessive timidity
preventing assertiveness and decisiveness; and
unwillingness to cooperate, preferring to pursue
ones ambitions independently.
This clash, focused by the "we-ness" of Venus clashing with the

Taurus:

Key Phrase: Enduring Prosperity

Taurus is the zodiac’s most beautiful and fertile sign; with true and
enduring prosperity in partnership, fidelity, beauty, love, and tangible
abundance.

Its strength is in practical, tangible prosperity. Its weakness is in

flexibility and multiplicity.

Saturn in Taurus:

Saturn and Venus are ideal for each

other. So although Saturn finds many
clashes here in Venus' beautiful and
opulent sign, they tend to indicate
favorable interpretations.

The beauty of Taurus meeting the ugliness of Saturn signifies an

unusual sense of beauty; ability to find
something attractive about anyone or anything.
The generous love of Taurus meeting the strict objectivity of
Saturn signifies minimalism in romantic standards
and needs; minimalistic and detached in general;
attempting to help others by honest criticism.
The synergy between the endurance of Taurus and the tenacity
of Saturn highlights persistence and longevity.

Influence of Mars on Saturn (97%)

The free and independent nature of Mars clashes with the restricted and
dependent nature of Saturn, suggesting feeling unnecessarily confined
and restricted in any partnership, and therefore tending to be
cruel, unrelenting and unforgiving.
The passionate nature of Mars clashes with the detached nature of Saturn,
depicting someone who can be adamantly uncaring, unattached, and
unconcerned.

This is a mutual aspect (99%) so it's very important!

This is the 5th time Saturn and Mars have influenced each other

Influence of Sun on Saturn (68%)

The influence of Sun on Saturn is difficult, because the Sun and Saturn are arch
enemies. There is a fundamental clash between the two. The Sun symbolizes
hierarchical authority while Saturn symbolizes the common blue-collar worker.
Bringing Sun and Saturn together therefore depicts problems with
Authority. This means clashing with established authorities and also
finding it difficult to operate in the role of an authority due to
lack of self-confidence and a definite preference for
decentralizing authority and power into the group.
Although there are two synergies between the symbols of the Sun and Saturn,
these usually get overshadowed by the challenging nature of this fundamental
clash. So, the steadiness of Sun combined with the endurance of Saturn, it tends to
depict stubborness; and the strictness of Sun with the strictness of Saturn
tends to symbolize harshness.

This is the 5th time Saturn and Sun have influenced each other

Influence of Mercury on Saturn (65%)

Mercury and Saturn both symbolize practicality and hard-work. So, their
combination suggests being very practical, and working hard to
benefit others.
The intellect of Mercury is harmonious with the logical analytic of Saturn,
depicting a scientific, logical thinker, who is a patient learner able
to concentrate on intellectual tasks.
The tactful nature of Mercury clashes with the blunt nature of Saturn, suggesting
someone whose suggestions and opinions often strike others as blunt, harsh
criticism.
The friendly nature of Mercury clashes with the reserved nature of Saturn,
depicting reluctance or difficulty in making friends.

It symbolizes the private sector of our lives: our

It also symbolizes the deep roots of our being, which
includes our cultural background, ancestry, and
mother.

Saturn in the 4th House:

The 4th House symbolizes happiness, but Saturn symbolizes

unhappiness. The 4th House also symbolizes emotion, while
Saturn is an unemotional planet. These clashes present a
picture of distrust and pessimism towards the
prospect of attaining emotional satisfaction, and
a preference towards practical things and
tangible goals instead.
There is also a clash between the 4th House representing home
and Saturn representing work, indicating someone overly
hardworking, without a comfortable and
relaxing private, domestic space in life.
One good interpretation does come from Saturn in the 4th
house, for they both synergize around the symbolic theme of
privacy. Thus Saturn in the 4th House depicts a person who is
comfortable being alone, and thus not having to
share one's inner feelings with others.

Yogas Involving Saturn

1. "Empowerment" - suggesting empowerment in connection to Saturn.
(already described)
The Life-Lessons
of Rāhu&Ketu
Rāhu & Ketu are a pole, always exactly 180º from
each other. Wherever they are in the chart, they
bring out the polarities inherent in those signs
and houses. These polarities represent the major
lessons one must learn in this lifetime.

Do not seek “balance” here! To solve Rāhu-

Ketu's riddle, you must synthesize, not
"balance." Balance maintains the illusion that
the two ends of the polarity are contradictory and
disjointed. The secret Rāhu-Ketu try to teach is
that the two “opposites” are NOT opposites. They
are mutually supportive, integrated aspects of the
same polar dynamic.
L-M ➾ d-j Rāhu-Ketu in Cancer-Capricorn
The similarity between Cancer and Capricorn is that they both have strong opinions. The
polarity between them is where the subject of those opinions is primarily found, and the sphere in
which they are primarily expressed and explored. Cancer represents a private, internal,
sensitive, and emotional sphere. Capricorn represents a public, external, insensitive
but practical sphere.
The significant challenge indicated by Rāhu and Ketu, then, is to discover how these two apparently
opposite spheres of life are in fact integrated and mutually nourishing.

The solution to this riddle is to understand that external things

have no value without internal substance, yet internal things
cannot even be experienced and understood without being
given practical, tangible external form. Emotion is not
something that exists in a vacuum in the heart. It is something
that is not fully experienced until it is expressed and shared
with the world. The internal self is not an isolated hermit, but a
functioning member of society and the external world. The
attention we pay to our inner self, then, allows us to function
better in the outer sphere. And the attention that we pay to the
outer sphere allows us to more definitely and tangibly
comprehend and experience our inner self.

You have Rāhu in Cancer, which suggests that your real challenge is to dive into the
internal sphere and experience how much more relevant, important and
satisfying the external sphere is when you do so.
L-M Rāhu-Ketu in the 6th-12th
The polarity here is the apparent dichotomy between fantasy and reality / dreams and
work.

The key lesson to learn is that dreams only come true through
work. Reality is a venue for giving tangible shape to our
fantasies. Thus reality is not boring or troublesome, and dreams
are not unnecessary distractions.

The polarity echoes in the dichotomy between abstract and tangible / impractical and
practical.

The key lesson here is that imagination and abstract ideas will
be vague and fuzzy until we put in the practical work required
to give our imagination tangible form in the real world. The
tangible world, conversely, will be dull and unimportant until
we empower it with the fuel of our imagination.
Rāhu in the 6th: You will become an unstoppable powerhouse when you realize that your dreams,
fantasies, and abstract, impractical ideas can be the life and soul of your day to day life in the real
world. Don't see the real world as being more "real" or significant than your dreams. See it as being
the canvas upon which your imagination can paint, the stage upon which your dreams can dance, the
clay in which your abstract concepts can take tangible form and play a real role in the lives of others.

Calculating Daśā
Although I use a standard lahiri ayanāṁśa for the sidereal nakṣatra which form the basis of this
viṁśottarī-daśā table, you may still find it somewhat different from other calculations you may have
received. This is probably because most people use a standard tropical calendar year of 365 some-odd
days to make this table, but I use a sidereal nakṣatra year, which is just a little over 359 days in length.

Interpreting Daśā
Don't get stuck trying to make exact predictions of exact dates using daśā tables. To do that, you have
to consult transits to exact positions in your natal chart. Daśā are not meant for that. They are long
periods of time, identifying phases and eras in which various themes, issues and opportunities will
come to the fore in your experience of life.

Interpreting these is very subtle, but to try your hand at it, start by simply reviewing the
interpretations made in this reading for the planet whose dasha you want to know about. Then, find a
sub-daśā (also called a "bhukti") and consider the interpretations made in this reading regarding that
planet. Then, interpret the nature of that period of time by combining those two sets of
interpretations, using the fundamental technique of looking for symbolic convergence or harmony
(where the two symbols are saying the same thing, essentially) and give positive interpretations to
those; and look for symbolic dissonance and clash (where the two symbols say directly opposite
things) and give negative interpretations there.
Circular Chart
This shows a map of the heavens at the moment you were born, in a circular style, helpful for showing
the geometric relationships between the planets and showing the nakṣatra, navāṁśa, and rāśī
simultaneously.
Table of Aspects
In classic Vedic astrology, every planet has its own "lines of sight" to various angles from it. As per
Bṛhat Parāśara Hora, the potency of an aspect or conjunction is calculated by exact angular degrees. I
express this calculation as a percentage, where 100% means full potency and 0% means absolutely no
potency at all.

The planets giving aspects are noted across the top row of each table, below. The planets or house
cusps receiving those aspects are listed down the left column of each. Where a row and column
intersect, I show the percentage of aspect involved. The utmost right column and bottom row show
the totals given (across the bottommost row) and received (down the rightmost column)

I also list any mutual aspects in your chart. Mutual aspects are particularly significant.

This table shows the dignity of each planet in each varga. Your Sun, for example is in Taurus (b) in the
sāptāṁśa (D-7), giving it a dignity of 50% in that varga. You can find this by looking for the Sun's
column (A), and tracing it down to the row for the 7th division.

With this table you can quickly scan for strong and weak points regarding the symbols associated with
each planet. The symbols associated with a planet will be unusually good for you pertaining to the
symbolism of a varga in which it have very good dignity (noted by being in green). Visa versa, a
planet's symbols face challenges pertaining to the symbols of a varga in which it has very low dignity
(noted by being in red).
