The 7 Wonders of the World

Introduction:

These wonders represent a combination of the natural


beauty and architectural skill of humanity throughout
history. Each of these wonders has its own history and
cultural significance, making them popular tourist
destinations and important world heritage landmarks.

The wonders that we are going to be seeing are: Macchu


Picchu,Chichen Itza,Roman Coliseum,Christ redeemer,The
Great Wall of China,The Hidden City of Petra,Taj-Majal.

Machu Picchu – Perú

Is a XV, century Inca citadel located


in the Eastern Cordillera of
southern Peru on a 2,430-meter
mountain ridge. Often referred to
as the «Lost City of the Incas,» it is
the most familiar icon of the Inca
Empire and is both a cultural and
natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. The massive yet
refined architecture of Machu Picchu blends
exceptionally well with the stunning natural
environment, making it a masterpiece of art, urbanism,
architecture, and engineering of the Inca Civilization.
Machu Picchu is a major tourist attraction, with growing
numbers of visitors each year, and is a significant
revenue generator for Peru.

In summary, Machu Picchu is a remarkable


archaeological site that continues to captivate visitors
with its historical significance, architectural marvels, and
breathtaking natural setting.
Chichen Itza-Mexico
Chichén Itzá is a large pre-Columbian city built by the
Maya people of the Terminal Classic period.Chichén Itzá
was one of the largest Mayan cities and was likely one of
the mythical great cities,or
Tollans,referred to in later
Mesoamerican
literature.Chichén Itzá is one
of Mexico's most important
cultural landmarks,famous for
its treasure trove of pre-
Columbian architecture and
artifacts.The name «Chichén Itzá» means «At the edge of
the Well of the Itzáes» in Mayan,and the site holds ancient
secrets and mystical significance in the Mayan world.

Roman Colosseum – Italy


The Roman Colosseum, also known as the Flavian
Amphitheater, is an ancient
amphitheater from the time of
the Roman Empire, built in the
1st century. Located in the east
of the Roman Forum, it is the
largest amphitheater built in the
Roman Empire, with an elliptical
structure . 188 meters long, 156
meters wide and 57 meters high. The construction of the
Colosseum was financed by loot obtained during the siege
of Jerusalem, and Jewish prisoners performed most of the
manual labor.
Christ redeemer – Brazil

Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue


of Jesus Christ located in Rio de
Janeiro,Brazil.The statue is 30 meters
tall,not including its 8-meter pedestal,and
its arms stretch 28 meters wide.Christ the
Redeemer is one of the New 7 Wonders of
the World and is a significant cultural
landmark in Brazil.The statue is said to
protect the population of Rio de Janeiro
and has become a symbol of hope and
resilience in the face of challenges.

The statue was built in the early 20th century and sits atop
Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro.

The Great Wall of China – China


The Great Wall of China is a series
of fortifications built across the
historical northern borders of
ancient Chinese states and Imperial
China as protection against various
nomadic groups from the Eurasian
Steppe.It is one of the largest
building-construction projects ever
undertaken and is an awe-inspiring feat of ancient
defensive architecture.The wall stretches for thousands of
miles along China's historic northern border,covering 15
provincial-level areas,including Beijing,Tianjin,Liaoning,and
Jilin.The Great Wall actually consists of numerous
walls,many of them parallel to each other,built over some
two millennia across northern China and southern
Mongolia.

The Great Wall of China has a history of more than 2,300


years,with its construction beginning in the Spring and
Autumn Period and its last major rebuilding occurring
during the Ming Dynasty.The Great Wall of China is a
testament to the ancient Chinese civilization's engineering
and military prowess,and it continues to be a source of
wonder and admiration for people around the world.

The Hidden City of Petra


The city sat empty and in near ruin for centuries until it
was rediscovered by a Swiss explorer in 1812.The city is
famous for its rose-sandstone buildings,including the iconic
Pharaoh's Treasury Mausoleum,which has been featured in
Hollywood blockbusters such as
Indiana Jones and The Mummy
Returns.Inside the rocks,the city
sprawls out across tunnels and
whole rooms materialize inside the
sandstone,their walls marbled with
the red and orange hues of the
natural rock.Although the first
images that spring to mind when one thinks of Petra are of
the glorious façade of the Pharaoh’s Treasury
Mausoleum,there is much more to explore in this lost city.

Over 85% of the city remains underground and


untouched,and archaeologists are still uncovering the sheer
magnitude of the site.

Taj – Mahal – India


The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum complex located in
Agra,Uttar Pradesh,India.It was built by the Mughal
emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century as a tribute to his
beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal,who died during
childbirth.The Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage site
and is renowned for its harmonious proportions,intricate
decorative elements,and fluid
incorporation of
Indian,Persian,and Islamic
styles.The Taj Mahal is a symbol
of love and devotion,and its
construction is a testament to
the Mughal Empire's
architectural and artistic
achievements.The complex's gardens and reflecting pool
add to its beauty and serenity,and the monument's color
changes throughout the day,from pinkish in the morning to
milky white in the evening and golden when the moon
shines.
