LESSON 2 - PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

 Form:

(+ ) S + am/ is / are + V-ing


( - ) S + am/ is / are + NOT + V-ing
(?) (Wh- word) + am/is / are + S + V-ing?
 Usage:
- sth happening at the moment of speaking / now
Ex: (In a classroom) We are learning English now.
- sth happening around now
Ex: (at a coffee shop)I am learning English to prepare for the TOEIC Test.
- a future plan with time / place
Ex: I am meeting with the staff at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

 Tense markers:
- (right) now / currently /presently / at the moment / at present
Ex: We are currently / presently / now reviewing our Grammar.

- Listen! / Look! / Be careful! = Watch out! = Look out! / Keep silent! / Be quiet!

COMMON VERBS THAT HAVE STATIVE MEANINGS


Note: Verbs with an asterisk * can have both stative and progressive meanings and uses.
