Exercise 1 :
Question 1: Who are managers?
- Managers can be under age 18 or over age 8. They maybe women, as well as man and
they can be found in all industries and in all countries.
Question 2: What do managers do?
- Managers oversee and coordinate activities within organizations. They plan, organize, and
lead teams, make decisions, solve problems, communicate, monitor performance, allocate
resources, and manage relationships with stakeholders.
Question 3: What is the process?
- A process is a series of steps and decisions involved in how to get work done. We may not
realize it, but process are everywhere and in every aspect of our work and play.
Question 4: What is an organization?
- Organization is a goal oriented process, which aims at achieving them, through proper
planning and coordination between activities. It relies on the principle of division of work
and set up authority-responisbility relationship among the members of the organization.
Question 5. Explain the hierarchy of needs of Abraham Maslow?

- Maslow’s theory presents his hierarchy of needs in the pyramid shape, with
basic needs at the bottom of the pyramid and more high-level, intangible
needs at the top. A person can only move on to addressing the higher-level
needs when their basic needs are adequately fulfilled.
- The five levels of needs in the hierarchy are:
1. Physiological Needs: These are the most basic needs for survival,
including food, water, air, shelter, warmth, sleep, and other bodily functions.
- Ex: air, food, drink, shelter, clothing, warmth, sex, and sleep.
2. Safety Needs: These are the needs for security, safety, and stability.
Examples include a safe environment, job security, financial stability, and
protection from harm.
- Ex: police, schools, business, and medical care
3. Love and Belonging Needs: These are the needs for social connection and
relationships. This includes the need for affection, intimacy, friendship,
family, and a sense of community.
- Ex: Friendship, intimacy, trust, acceptance, receiving and giving affection,
and love
4. Esteem Needs: These are the needs for self-esteem and recognition from
others. This includes the need for respect, recognition, achievement, status,
and independence.
- Ex: rewards, praise
- 5. Self-actualization Needs: Self-actualization needs are the highest level in
Maslow’s hierarchy, and refer to the realization of a person’s potential, self-
fulfillment, seeking personal growth, and peak experiences

Exercise 2 :
1.4 Studying management is crucial as it helps individuals develop leadership skills
and gain a deeper understanding of organizational dynamics. By acquiring
knowledge in areas such as organizational behavior and human resource
management, individuals can effectively lead teams, make informed decisions, and
optimize organizational performance. Overall, studying management equips
individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in managerial roles
and contribute to the success of organizations.
1.5 Several factors are reshaping and redefining management in today's business
landscape. Technological advancements, such as Al, automation, and big data
analytics, have revolutionized operations and decision-making processes.
Globalization and internationalization have expanded markets and brought about
diverse workforces. Additionally, changing consumer expectations and demands,
along with the rise of remote work and flexible arrangements, have necessitated
new approaches to management. Sustainability concerns and the focus on social
responsibility have also emerged as important considerations. To thrive in this
evolving environment, managers must adapt, embrace technology, foster diversity
and inclusion, and stay attuned to changing customer preferences while prioritizing
sustainability and social impact.
