SAQ2 (Self-Assessment Question 2)

Based on your own understanding of the lesson, write your own definition of institutional Vision
and Mission statement? Explain the significance of institutional vision and mission.
1. Vision

An institutional vision statement describes the hopes and long-term objectives of an

institution to its students after graduation. It also consists of the school's goals for the future.

2. Mission

An institutional mission statement describes the public and major commitments of the
schools to its students and community. It consists of their operational objectives, what the school
does and why they do it.

3. Significance of Institutional Vision and Mission

As a student, I always wonder what is the purpose of the mission and vision statements
of each school. Based on my understanding on the lesson, these statements are significant to
focus the school on a set of common learning goals. The mission and vision statements help to
organize the school's policies, form unity among educators, and create purposeful education for
the youth.
