SESSION 1 (“FAITHFUL AND LOVING GOD”) - Biblical and Theological Approach

Session Proper
• God
• Gospel Passage: “Who do you say that I am?” (Biblical Approach)
o To start the discussion about God using this passage
• Motivation: Videoclips (Faithful and Loving GOD)
o Who is God, then, according to the clip?
o The Father
o The Creator
• According to Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and
the earth."
• He wisely and out of love created the universe (see CCC 301 and Ps.
104:24).
The Savior
• Exodus 14:30–31 – "Therefore, on that day, the Lord delivered Israel from
the dominion of Egypt. The people of Israel feared the Lord when they saw
the Egyptians laying dead on the shore and realized the great might the Lord
had demonstrated against Egypt.
The Provider
• In Exodus 16, the Lord informs Moses, "I will send down bread from
heaven for you."
God's protection and providence enable creation to progress toward
perfection (see CCC 302).
• Disciplinarian/Adviser
• Ex. I am the Lord your God, who delivered you from slavery and the land
of Egypt in 20:2, 3. You may not worship any other deities besides me.
• Ex. 20:5 states, "You shall not serve them or bow down to them. For I, the
Lord, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their ancestors'
iniquity on the children of those who despise me, down to the third and
fourth generation;"
o Son
• The Savior
• • Jn. God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son,
according to John 3:16, so that everyone who places their faith in him
will not perish but have eternal life.
• • The name Jesus literally translates as "God is salvation." (see CFC
491)
• Companion or Listener
• • Jn. 15:15 - "I no longer refer to you as slaves; a slave does not
understand the plans of his master. Since I told you what I learned
from my father, I have referred to you as friends.
• The healer
• • Jesus demonstrated the presence of God among his people and the
nearness of the Reign of God by pardoning sin and curing the ill and
infirm. (cf CFC 1828)
• • He healed the paralyzed, the misshapen, the blind, the deaf-mute,
the lepers, and the like
• Teacher
• The kingdom of God, a vibrant image of God's active presence among
His people,occupied a central place in Jesus' teaching and preaching. (cf
CFC 481)
• Luke 11: 1-4 – He was in a certain location praying, and after he was
done, one of his disciples approached him and pleaded with him, "Lord,
teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."
o Spirit

§ The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my
name, will instruct you in all things and serve as a reminder of
everything I have said to you. I give you my peace, which I leave with
you. I don't provide it to you in the same way the world does. Keep
your souls from being anxious or worried.

§ We also trust in the Holy Spirit, who is the Lord and the source of

• By empowering Christians to share in Christ's own life as the
Father's adopted sons and daughters, the spirit sanctifies believers,
causing them to:

• Love one another and God.

• Acquire knowledge of the truth,

SESSION 2 (“I”) - Existential Approach

• Ice Breaker
• Who do you think you are? / Who am I?
• Activity: Sticking up myself to the class
o Materials needed: Sticky notes
o Instruction:
§ Using your sticky notes, describe something about yourself and your
relationship with God (May it be good or bad)
§ After writing them, paste them on the cartolina.
• Integration:
o Do you believe that what you have written accurately reflects who you are in all aspects
and how you interact with God? Is that right, apin na nga?
How can you be sure that these characters are accurately depicted?

o 12:12–27 in 1 Corinthians
The same way that a body is one despite having many parts, and that all the parts of a body
are one body despite having many, so too is Christ. Because whether we were Jews,
Greeks, slaves, or free people, we were all baptized into one body and given to drink of
one Spirit.Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one
Spirit.

have from God, and that you are not your own?
