NARRATIVE REPORT: TEACHING DEMONSTRATION


In 21st of June 2023 at exactly 1:00 pm, I momentarily performed my teaching demonstration and execute it with no
inhibitions. The setting of my demo teaching was entirely conducted at my home address. The subject lesson that I've
tackled during my teaching demonstration is entitled as context clues: synonyms, it can be found in the K-12 curriculum
guide particularly in the 9th grade section, 1st quarter. The learning area of the topic I've chosen is aligned with grammar
awareness and vocabulary development and the subject matter focuses all about synonyms and its significance in the
English language. The objectives of the lesson is to r ecognize and illustr ate synonyms as context clues in a given passage;
construct and promulgate examples of synonyms through the usage of common adjectives; and create and use context
clues about synonyms.

This narrative report serves as a compilation of chronological events that transpired during my demo teaching. Firstly, I've
performed the lesson proper which consists the teaching preliminaries: prayer, greetings, classroom management,
establishing classroom rules, and attendance checking. Secondly, after presenting the teaching preliminaries and
recapitulation of the topic last meeting, I've ameliorate a purpose for the lesson and to keep the class motivated through
singing a song entitled as 'The Synonyms Song by Teacher Roan' in the tune of 'I'm a Little Teapot', I sung it altogether
with the students. Thirdly, I asked if the students have a clue about the lesson and other questions were raised as well;
afterwards, I've introduced the topic and presented some examples about the new lesson through an activity entitled as 'Fix
me and Describe me'. Fourthly, I've performed my class discussion about synonyms and give students the chance to delve
deeper, and develop mastery on the subject matter through an activity entitled as ' Time for Rhyme'; the mechanics is to
provide synonyms of the underlined words in the nursery rhyme called as the ' Itsy Bitsy Spider', the activity can be split
into pairs of two. Fifthly, to help students find practical applications of concepts and skills about the subject matter; I've
prepared another activity entitled as ' Want to Dig Deeper?'. The mechanics of the activity is to construct synonyms
through using context clues in a given passage; it is an excerpt from the novel ' Hatchet by Gary Paulsen'. Moreover, to
make generalizations and abstractions about the lesson; I've administered an oral recitation and inaugurate another activity
entitled as 'Story with a Twist'. In this activity, the students will read the plot summary or synopsis of the story entitled as
'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain ', and change its ending with a hint of creativity. Furthermore, to evaluate
their understanding; I've let the students answer some worksheets about context clues and synonyms. Lastly, I've let the
students explore new learning endeavors and assess their own learning journey by applying the subject lesson in real-
world context scenario through a group activity entitled as ' Findgt he Mur de r e r ' . This type of activity enables the 21st
century learners to exhibit their creativity, knowledge, and collaborative skills. Afterwards, I gave some complimentary
remarks for their initiative to listen and how they exert effort to participate in class, and a few minutes later is the class
dismissal.

I've acquiescently encountered some dilemmas and minor struggles during my demo teaching such as making my voice
modulated as possible, physical barriers such as noise, unnecessary remarks, unaware if I presented the subject matter
systematically, too much gesture and the preparation of my visual aids is time-consuming, had a hard time of my choices
of words, lack of language proficiency and grammar fluency and other aspects as well. Nonetheless, it was quite a success.
Somehow I've r ealized that I may made a lot of mistakes but I'm cer tain that my demo teaching was or ganized; I've
showcase neatness in my appearance, I've made eye contact among the students and encourages them to participate and
ask questions, I've demonstrate confidence and an embodiment of enthusiasm, my visual aids can be read clearly, I've
communicate well and somehow spoke loudly, I have time management and class control and somehow I used words and
expressions within the students level of comprehension. Thus, throughout my teaching demonstration, learning can be
seen evidently. Nevertheless, my teaching demo serves as a pathway and an avenue to help me be officially introduce in
the world of teaching and an expedition to indulge on how the implementation of the teaching and learning process occurs
in a classroom setting. Consequently, due to the pandemic this was my second time to do a video demo and I haven't
experience an actual demo so it's quite a setback. I was truly nervous but I muster up the courage to be a good role model
and execute this teaching endeavor wholeheartedly. Although, I've made a lot of realizations that teaching is not an easy
task, we should always bare in mind that our learners is our top priority and we should consider how diverse they can be,
to develop an inclusive classroom setting, strengthening the bond between students and learning facilitators. Indeed,
education is a luxury, we shouldn't transgress it. In addition, this teaching demonstration can be a training ground to
harness my 21st century teaching skills and giving me the opportunity to be aware of my capacity to teach, especially
from the aspect where I found my teaching style lacking and needs more improvement. Teaching is not my cup of tea but
I've realized that effectively reinforcing learning and imparting knowledge among the 21st century learners is what truly
matters the most. Despite a few difficulties and challenges, the whole setup was fun and an amazing experience.

As the advent of technology ar ises, the significance of education is adequately conceived to be immeasur able. Mor eover ,
learning gives students the opportunity to go beyond their comfort zones, boost their confidence and morale, building their
character development, expanding their awareness, acknowledging learning, widening their understanding to help them be
equipped with the essential skills, knowledge and competencies or merely be more engaged in an inclusive classroom
setting. Thus, the acquisition of knowledge can be made possible, it is clearly evident and can be seen visibly. There are a
million different ways and salient factors to consider on how the learning process caters improvement in terms of giving
the 21st century learners a great opportunity to explore new learning endeavors, quench their thirst for knowledge, and
endows them a chance to acquire literacy and be more acquainted with literature and the English language itself.
Furthermore, education plays a crucial role in our society and acquiescently gives a huge impact for its ample
effects in a worldwide perspective. The concept of students and teachers are both related and somehow intertwined with
one another. In addition, the teaching and learning process serves as a great source of enlightenment and can be a solid
foundation to enhance the education system and help students achieve a higher quality of education for the betterment of a
nation's future. It serves as a training ground, can be a hallmark for evolution, and a highlight for shaping one's grammar
awareness, exercising vocabulary development, ameliorating the different macroskills, rectifying language proficiency
eloquently and be mor e ar ticulate on upholding or al language fluency.

Nevertheless, the embodiment of learning is conceived as an important skill for the 21st century learners. It serves as a
framework to expand their knowledge and understanding. It orchestrates the modern definition to f ormulate new ideas and
enables students to be more observant when it comes to assessing their own vocabulary skills and their intellectual
learning journey. Particularly, it gives them an opportunity to acknowledge the acquisition of meaning, exhibit learning,
foster grammar awareness and uphold vocabulary development. It serves as a traditional vehicle and an outlet to enable
learning facilitators accumulate factual information and can be a guideline to establish and strengthen the teaching and
learning process. In addition, education is the key to success and school serves as a traditional vehicle that shapes the 21st
century learners' intellectual journey in an interactive classroom setting. Consequently, school serves as a solid foundation
and a stepping stone to help students achieve and showcase the prerequisite 21st century skills and embody lifelong
learning. No matter how distinct each existing curriculum in every school attains and how diverse the 21st century
learners can be; still there is a certain learning facilitator that acquiescently makes the classroom setting more inclusive
and encourages students to explore new learning endeavors. Curriculum itself is the heart of schooling and can be a
framework to enhance the education system. In addition, school can be a training ground for students to assess their own
strengths and weaknesses, embracing their flaws wholeheartedly, giving the students opportunity to exhibit learning, and
foster the acquisition of knowledge. Nevertheless, the concept of students and teachers are interconnected with one
another, which orchestrates a meaningful relationship blossoming into a special bond that integrates collaboration and
upholds the value of improvement in the teaching and learning process. In this modern era, to every student ameliorating
education is a luxury. Education reckons a purpose and gave a huge impact to the betterment of our nation's future.
Education can be a hallmark for evolution and a pioneer for change and innovation. Its significance is adequately
conceived to be immeasurable. Thus, the existence of learning in an inclusive classroom setting is clearly evident and can
be seen visibly when teachers and students cultivates harmony and upholds the vision and core values of the school
institution.

Teachers plays an essential role in our society, they're the backbone of every school institution. Indeed, in every school
there's a special teacher to the hearts of every student, incorporating an amazing bond that binds them together. In times of
trouble, no matter what the dilemma might be, teachers never gives up on us despite the hardships and difficulties they're
facing in life, instead they take initiative to formulate better solutions to solve that certain issue which associate us with
and never contemplate to become a helping hand among students. Indeed, teachers have a heart of gold that never hesitate
to motivate us to do better so we should never forget to pay tribute and give a heartfelt gratitude for their patience,
dedication, and hardwork. Teachers are selfless, optimistic, compassionate, caring, empathetic individuals that embodies
an unwavering patience and never hesitates to help students at their lowest. Somehow, we should break the mediocre
stereotypes, not just merely exuding the bare minimum on how we can perceive the role of teachers; but as students we
should exert effort to learn how to appreciate, give value and importance among teachers. Teachers can be a rampant
support, Moreover, teachers give students a chance to go beyond their comfort zones, embracing their flaws especially
their strengths and weaknesses, developing their skills, boost their confidence and morale, building their character
development to help them be more engage in an interactive classroom setting. Teachers can be an advocate for change and
can be a guideline to shape us into better individuals. Teachers can be a friend, an inspiration and a good role model that
students look up to. Furthermore, teaching can be a great instrument in reinforcing learning and can be an avenue to help
learning facilitators effectively impart knowledge among the 21st century learners. Educating students serves as a great
source of enlightenment and can be a catalyst for knowledge. It can be a training ground to help students take part of their
own learning. It can be a solid and can be an outlet to promulgate a higher quality of education in the active learning
process. Teachers have master their own expertise of teaching and acquires their own teaching style which makes them
extraordinary and unique. Teachers can be a helping hand to give us the opportunity to achieve excellence, to accomplish
success, establish and integrate new milestones and extrapolate greater heights in our learning journey. Thus, the
importance of teachers is an understatement.
