BRINGING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION CLOSER TO THE COMMUNITY:

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

The emphasis on inclusive education is crucial in the effort to increase educational

accessibility for all individuals, including those with special needs. Despite this, there are
numerous obstacles to this pendekatan's implementation within the general public.
As per the World Bank Group (2019), the primary issue is the lack of understanding and
awareness of what exactly is implicit and why it is important. Many members of the public still
harbor stigmas and prejudices against children who have special needs, which causes them to be
isolated from the formal education system. More efforts are needed to educate the public about
the importance of inklusi in education. This can be accomplished through educational
workshops, seminars, and camps that include all stakeholders in education, including students,
teachers, and local government officials.

Furthermore, there needs to be greater government support in terms of providing

adequate resources and infrastructure to support inclusive education. This includes training for
teachers and school staff, as well as the provision of facilities that are friendly to individuals with
special needs. Additional resources are also needed to ensure that all students have access to
relevant and accessible curricula, as well as adequate support to reach their full potential. This
may involve the development of special learning materials and mentoring programs for students
with special needs. Inclusive education serves as a crucial foundation for ensuring that every
individual has equal access to education, regardless of background, abilities, or special needs.
However, realizing inclusive education at a societal level is not always easy. This article will
discuss the challenges faced in bringing inclusive education closer to the community and the
solutions that can be implemented to address them. Challenges in Bringing Inclusive Education
Closer to the Community:

1. Lack of Understanding and Awareness: One of the main challenges is the lack of
understanding and awareness of the concept of inclusive education among the
community. Many people still hold stigma and prejudice against children with special
needs, which can lead to their isolation from equal educational opportunities.
2. Lack of Government Support: Government support for providing adequate resources and
infrastructure to support inclusive education is often lacking. This includes training for
teachers and school staff, the provision of facilities for individuals with special needs, as
well as the development of special learning materials and mentoring programs for
students with special needs.

Therefore, there are several possible solutions to address these challenges, including:

1. Educational and Awareness Approaches: Through awareness campaigns, seminars, and

workshops involving all education stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and local
governments, the community can be approached to understand the importance of
inclusion in education. Wider education and awareness of this concept can help change
attitudes and behaviors towards children with special needs.
2. Greater Government Support: The government needs to provide greater support by
providing the necessary resources and infrastructure to support inclusive education. This
includes adequate funding allocation, training for school staff, and the provision of
facilities for individuals with special needs. Additionally, the development of policies
that support inclusion in education is also crucial.

In conclusion, inclusive education is not just a concept but a human right that should be
accessible to all individuals without discrimination. To achieve this, concerted efforts are needed
from all relevant parties, including the government, educational institutions, and the community
as a whole. By addressing the challenges and implementing appropriate solutions, it is hoped that
inclusive education can become a reality for all individuals worldwide.
