1) Compare the ideal qualities of a good boy/man and a good girl/woman. How similar/different are they?
There are differences between the ideal traits of a good man and a good woman. Despite certain similarities, the percentage
of differences is greater than the proportion of similarities. They are distinct in the same way that men and women have diverse
emotional makeups. Both of them respond to situations differently.
2) What are the common roles ascribed to men/women?
The common roles ascribed to men or women are marriage or having a committed relationship, work or having a job, and
having a college degree.
3) What are my personal experiences on my journey to discovering my sense of being a man/woman?
When I first fell in love with someone unexpectedly, I think that was one of my personal experiences about my journey to
discovering my sense of being a woman. We have learned a lot from one another. In addition, I develop my independence as a
woman when I came to Puerto Princesa City to pursue my undergraduate studies.
4) What are my views about gender?
For me, gender is a choice. Gender is something we choose. It can make some people feel whole, but for others, it is a
nightmare. Happiness can only truly enter our life after we learn to be genuine to ourselves. However, there are also others who
are too terrified of rejection and criticism to speak aloud about who they really are. Actually, the concept of LGBT groups in the
community continues to be recognized by society. And the debate over it is still going on today.

LESSON 2. ACTIVITY 2
Reflection Paper
Answer the following questions:
1) What are your thoughts about how gender is portrayed in your community?
I believe that the basis of one's gender is currently a controversial subject in our community. There are individuals that are
scared to come out while others are free to reveal their true identities. This might be a result of how their families will perceive
them and the possibility that they won't be accepted. They are frightened of criticism and rejection. I also recognize that some
people in my neighborhood express their gender through the way they dress and the interactions they have with their partners.
2) How can you describe your discovery of your sexuality, your sense of being male or female?
I think I can describe my sexuality by describing who I am attracted to. Like if I am attracted to a guy or not, there are some
factors from the outside that sometimes make me wonder about my true identity.
3) How does your being a female or male influence your family’s and peer’s expectations from you?
My relatives and friends probably anticipate that I will get married someday because I am a woman. They also anticipate that
I will complete my courses and do well in them. It has an impact in that there are occasionally assumptions made about my
ability to make wise decisions.
4) What have you learned from this topic?
I discovered that sex may be identified by looking at the reproductive organs and genitalia. Sex can only be male or female.
Gender is multifaceted and can be characterized as the ways that people define themselves, regardless of whether it
corresponds to their anatomical sex. In addition, I had learned sexual orientation, which discusses how we may be drawn to
someone romantically, sexually, emotionally, or in other ways. Only when we are honest to ourselves can we find true freedom
and happiness.
