SPIRITUAL STATISTICS (November 6, 2011)

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

THANK YOU: I want to thank our church leadership for their kind remembrance of me during Preacher Appreciation Month (October). The gift is much appreciated. KEENAGERS TRIP: Our trip to Zanesville, and a tour of the Conns Potato Chip factory is, at this point, full. This trip is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29 with departure at 8:10 AM. Lunch is at the Tumbleweed Restaurant where menu items start at $5.69. After lunch, we are traveling the short distance to Dresden and a visit to the Longaberger Homestead. The tour is free and lunch is on your own. The cost will be $3 per person for transportation. A sign-up sheet remains posted. If you have signed on and find you are not able to go, please give us as much notice as possible, as we have a number of folk on our stand-by list. WEDNESDAYS: II Corinthians is the focus of our study in the 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM groups. You are welcome to join us in either of the two. This week we are examining chapter 8. SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: We are going to experience a brief disruption to our current series on the Hard Sayings Of Jesus. On November 13, due to my absence during the week, Glen Shady will be our special guest speaker. Then, on November 20, we will be having our annual Thanksgiving dinner. I encourage your participation and support of each of these events. I will be returning to our series on November 27. On that evening, our topic will be The Unforgiveable Sin. Jesus speaks of this in Matthew 3:28-29 and Luke 12:10. FINAL THOUGHT: To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup, Whenever youre wrong admit it; Whenever youre right, shut up.

A Note from Brad

If you have ever felt frustrated or even aggravated by the topic of giving, you will be surprised by what youll read in Gods Word about it. Just yesterday, we began an adventure in faith with the Lord as we started our study on Taking God at His Word. The Biblical study and practical insights in this book have convicted me in a very positive way. I believe that these exciting truths will encourage genuine generosity here at Fifth Avenue. Perhaps we have too often underestimated Gods plan for us. After all, God promises to take care of our financial needs when we trust Him with our giving. So our leadership has recognized the need to step out in faith by trusting the Lord with every financial need and decision. Please join us as we learn, grow, and receive Gods rewards together. If you have not received your free copy of Take God at His Word, feel free to stop by our building during office hours or pick one up Wednesday evening. If you havent already, please read chapters one and two before Sunday, November 13 th. This year our Thanksgiving offering has been designated to take care of some in house expenses. This Sunday we will fill you in with more of the specifics regarding this special gift. On November 20th, we will have a Thanksgiving dinner for our entire congregation beginning at 6 P.M. Its going to be a great time of fellowship as we enjoy a meal together and reflect upon the many reason why we should Count our Blessings! There will also be some special music provided by folks from the church. The church will provide the meat and drinks, but you are asked to bring the desserts and side dishes. Look for a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the coat room and indicate how many will be joining us from your family so we know how many to prepare for. Please plan to join us and bring a friend. Here is just a thought to keep in mind as I close out this article, especially since the holidays are approaching. Bob Hope once said, Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle. Now go have a great week! In His Service, Brad, Eph. 3:20-21

DORCAS
The Dorcas ladies are having a pizza party at noon on Tuesday, November 15th. All ladies are welcome to join your Dorcas friends for a great time of fellowshipping.

Christmas Card-Making Class

Children of God...
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." -Proverbs 22:6

H osting Y outh Events If you would be interested in hosting a movie night, taking part in a progressive dinner, serving the teens breakfast, or using your home and/or property for any number of activities, please let G know. W have great len e teens, and they are a blast to have over. They will treat your home respectfully and will enjoy any and all food you may serve. Sometimes sharing the love of Jesus with the next generation is as simple as an open door, some tasty food, a comfy couch, and a good movie. A dult Sunday School C lass W are now one month into our new Sunday School class in room 214. This e class is open to anyone and everyone, but we really encourage young parents to be a part of this time. W already have two little ones (less than a year old) e that are part of our class each week, so if you have a little one that you are not ready to leave in the nursery yet, this is the class for you. This hour each week is focused solely on the Bible and learning from it, but we have not had a class yet that has not involved chatting about our lives and/or joking with one another. W are two chapters deep into Z e echariah, and it is already a really interesting and unique study. So if you currently do not attend a Sunday school class, I encourage you to seriously think about the enrichment, encouragement, and learning that your relationship with G is od missing out on. Join us in room 214 this Sunday to take another step in deepening your faith.
