Good day:
__ __
We are writing about your eligibility for the disability tax credit (DTC).
Please keep this letter for your records as it contains important information about DTC eligibility
and any future T2201, Disability Tax Credit Certificate requirements, if applicable.
We have completed our review and determined that you are eligible for the DTC for 2011 and future
years.
You may be entitled to claim the disability amount on your income tax return for some of those years.
To claim the Disability Tax Credit you must enter the disability amount on your tax return on line 31600
for self for each year you are entitled to claim. For more information on how to claim or transfer the
Disability Tax Credit, please refer to the attached information sheet.
We sent the adjustment request to the appropriate section of our office. See the attached fact sheet
for more information.
Please do not send us another Form T2201, Disability Tax Credit Certificate, unless we ask for one.
We invite you to fill out an online survey so we can see how much you know about the disability tax
credit, as well as if you were satisfied with the application process. Your participation is voluntary, and
the survey will take about 10 minutes. Your answers will remain confidential and anonymous. Please
__ __
go to canada.ca/dtc-survey to start the survey.
Sincerely,

Adjustment request sent to the appropriate section of our office
Our T1 adjustment department will let you know when they have finished their review. Disability tax
credit adjustment requests are usually completed within 8 weeks of the date of the notice of
determination. However, some requests are considered complex and can take up to 20 weeks to
process. These include situations where more information or verification is needed. We want to assure
you that processing the request is a priority.
We can only consider adjustment requests for tax years ending in any of the 10 calendar years before
the year you make a request.

More Information
You can find our forms at canada.ca/cra-forms or call 1-800-959-8281 to order them.
You can claim any fees a medical practitioner charges to fill out Form T2201 or to give us more
information as medical expenses. See line 33099(330) of the Federal Income Tax and Benefit Guide.
If there are changes and you believe you or your dependant are no longer eligible for the Disability Tax
Credit (DTC) contact the CRA and let us know.
The CRA can only consider claims for the disability amount within the last 10 calendar years.
For more information on how to claim or transfer the Disability Tax Credit please go to:
Canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/segments/tax-credits-deductions-persons-
disabilities/disability-tax-credit/claiming-dtc.html.
The disability amount is a non-refundable tax credit that reduces the amount of tax you owe. If the total
of the credit is more than the amount you owe, the CRA does not issue a refund for the difference.
