INDUSTRY OVERVIEW LINK TO PROGRAM:

Healthcare acquired infections (HAIs) are a common adverse outcome in hospitals that increase the morbidity and
mortality of patients. Reasons cited in the research literature claim a lack of frequent hand hygiene, improper skin
antisepsis, low level of environmental cleanliness, breaks in sterile technique, overuse of antibiotic therapy and
increase use of invasive devices and diagnostic procedures. The Infection Prevention and Control specialist is an
important position in healthcare settings.

The components of an effective infection prevention and control program are essential to a quality program that will
reduce these adverse outcomes. Surveillance, prevention and control requires diligent clinical observations and
routine collection of pertinent data to evaluate the success of implemented measures.

WHY YOU CANNOT MISS THIS EVENT?

This two day workshop is designed to address many of the challenges facing infection prevention specialists and
hospital staff. It will outline the key components to an effective program, using examples from the Centers for Disease
Control (CDC) on their requirements for programs in the US.
