It’s Cellular

A basic overview of cells.

Idea: Have you ever thought about this?

John 7:17 - 18

…If anyone wants to do

God’s will, he will know
whether my teaching is
from God or whether I
merely speak on my own
authority.”

common.

Objectives

•Describe the structure of animal and plant cells.

•List the structures within animal and plant cells.
•State the functions of these structures.
•Describe the differences between plant and
animal cells.
What is a cell?
•Cell are the smallest unit of
living things that is fully
alive.
•Cells make up living things
just like bricks make up a
house.
•Plant and animal cells are
the main types of
eukaryotic cells (cells with
a nucleus).
Notice that prokaryotes have no
nucleus- just nuclear material.
Bacteria belong to this family.
Notice the
difference in size
between a virus,
bacterium and a
regular cell.
Cell Organelles

The cell contains parts

called organelles (“little
organs” like those in
the body). These
organelles have
particular functions.
