Students,

Thursday is a FLIPPED CLASS study day – there’s no need to go to Nong Shim

Kwan: you can work from your home. Here are your tasks. They are simple
revision tasks – firstly, open the GRAMMAR pdf (see above) and read pages one
and two. These two pages are essential foundation work, and they clearly
explain the ways in which we use (a) PRESENT SIMPLE and (b) PRESENT
CONTINUOUS and those two pages also explain the contrasts and differences
between those two forms – so – read it closely and carefully.

Then -- open these following coursebooks links pages – **these links are mostly
focused on the uses of PRESENT SIMPLE**.

When you have completed the links, then send me SCREENSHOTS of the
completed pages.

Grammar Hints to help you before you do the links pages – Present simple is
mostly very easy – it has a repetitive pattern: see below –

I walk
You walk

He-She-It walks

We walk
They walk

I talk
You talk

He- She –It talks

We talk
They talk.

I drink
You drink

He-She-It drinks

We drink
They drink

Explanation – as you can see, there is always an ‘S’ added in the case of
‘He-She-It’

That is a fixed rule pattern which doesn’t change.

Small Changes in the grammar pattern when questions and negative

forms are used –

if we are **asking questions or making a

However –
negative sentence**, that rule changes slightly –

How does it change?

It’s easy – look for the patterns -- for example,

Question “Does he smoke?”

Answer – ‘Yes he smokes’ – or -- ‘No, he doesn’t smoke.’

Question – “Does she drink coffee every day?”

Answer – “Yes, she drinks coffee every day” – or – “No, she doesn’t drink
coffee every day.”

Question – “Does he listen to music every day?”

Answer -- “Yes, he listens to music every day” – or – “No, he doesn’t listen to

music every day.”

Look at the new pattern! Look at the small and subtle changes when questions
and negatives are used!

Mostly these rules are very easy.

If you have any difficulties, you can email me about it – you are always
welcome to contact me about it – or -- you can ask me next week.

I always want to make it as easy as possible.

Now you try – look for the patterns and you will see how easy it is:

Now, here are some FLUENCY links – send me the screenshots of the completed
pages – these are not grammar based, and not focussed on accuracy. It is
communicative work which will help your interaction with others and they will
help you make new friends and they will help you to politely share your ideas
and feelings and thoughts with others –
