Course Objective:
The course enables students to understand:

 To practice various designs of mechanical elements: assemblies, drives, etc.


 To expose them to concepts of functionality, reliability, adaptability, ergonomics, and factors
influencing the designer in a team

Course Description:

Design of Shafts, clutches-friction clutches, brakes, Bearings, Design of Belt, Rope, and chain drives,
Design of gear drives – Spur, helical, and bevel gears, practical design of typical machine assemblies simple
machine units and elements, gearbox casing design, linkages and cam, material handling equipment design,
design optimization
