Architecture, features a modern and functional design with a focus on sustainability and regional identity. It incorporates ample natural light, efficient passenger flow, and flexible spaces to accommodate varying needs. The terminal is layout likely in cludes checkpoints, departure lounges, gates, retail areas, and amenities, all arranged to enhance the overall passenger experience while reflecting the local culture and environment of Nelson,New Zealand. The long-span timber roof sits on widely spaced columns, to maximize the open space and glazing. The roof spans 18.6m between columns, and each bay is 15m wide. This presented an engineering challenge to form the roof without a visually heavy structure. The roof was designed as a “folded plate” structure.
