ACIDS AND BASES


All matter possesses characteristics that set them apart. Some properties of matter can
be easily observed while others are defined by its composition. Using your senses and
some measuring instruments, determine some properties of the given materials below.

Materials:
 Baking soda
 Vinegar
 Calamansi
 Coke
 Soap (bar or powder)
 Ampalaya
 Litmus paper
 Watch glass
 tablespoon

Procedure:
1. Place a teaspoon of each sample on a watch glass.
2. Dip the blue and red litmus paper on each sample.
3. Examine each sample and observe what happens to the litmus paper after several
minutes.
4. Record all your observations in the table below.
