MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

“Proverbs 16:16 says that having wisdom and understanding is better than having silver or gold. Nice
and expensive items can be enjoyable, but there are very few things in life that can never be taken away, will
never go out of style, and that truly make you a better person. An education is one of those things.”

Education is the best gift young individuals could receive. It is one of the salient things that should
be taken seriously since it is the stepping stone to a child’s future because the more knowledge we gain, the
more opportunities will flow to allow individuals to achieve better possibilities in career and personal
growth. I believe that all children deserve to have an access to education because they are our future and it is
up to us as educators to point them in the right direction.

My educational philosophy is simple! (1.) To never overpower my students. For me teaching should
not be a job, it should be a passion. My classroom will focus around the students’ needs, rather than my
own. The classroom will revolve around the students. I will be their guiding hand through education. (2.) Let
students interact I a positive way. Social interaction is very essential. As they combine with peers, they share
knowledge and learn how to solve problems together. (3.) I want boost the confidence of my students
especially in front of the crowd, just to practice them facing a lot of people. So it could be done through oral
recitations, oral reports, throwing them questions in the middle of our discussion, and letting them answer it,
and also it could be showcasing their talents. By that, they would learn how to overcome their stage fright. I
want my students to know they can achieve anything, just as long as they put their minds to it. Furthermore,
I plan to follow “learning by doing/Experiential theory” expounded by American philosopher John Dewey
because this is a good way for the students to learn not just academically but at the same time doing it in an
actual situation. So experience is involve with this, not only the imagination. This is a kind of hands-on
approach to learning, meaning students must interact with the environment in order to adapt and learn.

Teaching is not easy since learners are not the same, some of them are fast learners while others are
slow to catch up the lessons given to them. Students also have diverse preferred way of learning. There are
group of students who are considered visual, auditory, and bodily-kinesthetic learners. So I have to be
flexible, patient and competent as an educator. My desire is to make learners feel comfortable in my
classroom, so there should be a strong connection between us. They should feel the sense of love, care, and
support from me as their facilitator, and as well as sense of security. A safe and enriching environment to
learn and grow, emotionally and intellectually is one of the necessary things we could provide for them.
