Introduction

Ensuring an effective Optimum Energy Management System is imperative in the contemporary world
due to the escalating demand for energy and the necessity for its efficient utilization (Energy
Management System - an Overview | ScienceDirect Topics, n.d.). Efficient energy management is
vital for minimizing energy consumption and mitigating adverse environmental impacts (Reducing
Energy Consumption - an Overview | ScienceDirect Topics, n.d.). The pursuit of an optimal strategy
for energy use that aligns with demand, minimizes costs, and reduces carbon emissions is known as
the "Optimum Energy Management System problem" (Khahro et al., 2021). Objectives may
encompass energy conservation, cost reduction, and maintaining performance standards (Reducing
Energy Consumption - an Overview | ScienceDirect Topics, n.d.). Various optimization methods,
including linear programming, dynamic programming, and genetic algorithms, are employed to
address the OEMS issue (Koken et al., 2018). In addressing Asia's escalating energy consumption, the
Optimum Energy Management System stands as a crucial tool. The region's rapid economic growth
and urbanization drive an increasing demand for energy (Energies | Free FullText | An Optimized
Home Energy Management System with Integrated Renewable Energy and Storage Resources, n.d.).
However, given limited energy resources, effective energy management systems become essential to
optimize energy use and reduce waste. The OEMS aims to assist organizations in curbing energy
consumption by optimizing various processes, utilizing sophisticated algorithms and predictive
models to monitor and control energy usage, providing real-time insights into usage trends, and
identifying opportunities for savings. The Philippines, facing challenges in meeting energy needs due
to factors like population expansion and industrialization, actively pursues an Optimum Energy
Management System to enhance efficiency (Kessides, 2013). The OEMS monitors and manages
energy use in buildings by optimizing consumption based on variables like occupancy, weather, and
energy pricing. Implementing an OEMS offers numerous benefits for the country, addressing issues
like high energy prices, reliance on imported oil, and contributing to inflation rates. The Optimum
Energy Management System serves as a tool to minimize energy consumption while maintaining
performance levels in a given system (Kessides, 2013). It proves particularly valuable in situations of
excess local energy generation from renewable sources like solar, wind, or geothermal energy (Bensel
& Remedio, 1995). Excess energy generation often leads to wastage, increased costs, and an

unsustainable energy system. To tackle this, an OEMS optimizes energy usage, reduces waste, and
lowers energy costs. In Cebu, Philippines, an efficient Energy Management System becomes
paramount for reducing consumption, costs, and improving environmental sustainability. The system
integrates technologies like automation, sensors, and analytics to optimize consumption and reduce
waste in buildings and industries. Given the high energy costs in the country, coupled with the need
for conservation and emission reduction, an EMS proves essential for monitoring and controlling
energy usage effectively.

Purpose of the research
The implementation and Design an optimum Energy Management System using motion switch
inorder to save electric bill distribution by monitoring the power consumption of each room residing.
This investigation aims to explore the experiences of the property managers, residents and end-users
in Univesity of Cebu

Type of Research Intervention

This research involves doing a survey both face-to-face interaction by giving a hard copy of the
questionnaire when facing the respondents and online interaction which will be using online
platforms such as google forms. A follow-ip question will be asked to clarify certain answers of the
participants.

We are inviting the school teachers and students, being the primary stakeholders in the implementation
and design an optimum energy management system using motion switch

Procedures and Protocol

In this investigation, you will be asked to answer the survey questions during the data
gathering in your free and convenient time. The survey questionnaire will be given by the
researchers in a hard copy form; for the online survey, a Google form link will be provided
wherein open communication is available for questions and clarifications. Furthermore, there
will be follow- up question to be asked if necessary. If you wish not to answer some
questions, you can skip them and move on to the next question. The information obtained is

answers. To ensure that you will be able to have a complete understanding of the purpose of
the study, the proponent will first explain the objectives of the study and the intended
benefits of participating in this investigation.

Duration
The duration of the research is approximately four (4) months. You will be given a maximum of the
(10) days to answer the survey questionnaire before it will be retrieved by the researchers. Your
angagement as a participant will only take place once.

During the conduct of the survey, the researchers will give you the hard copy of the questionnaire or
through google forms for those surveys conducted online, which would basically let you answer the
questions related to the various online review strategies adopted by the participants and the objectives
laid out by the researchers. You will not be forced nor required to answer all questions in the
questionnaire. If you do not like to answer some of the items because you are not comfortable with
them your decision will be respected and you do not have to give reasons for not responding, or for
refusing to take part in the survey. Furthermore, be assured that the responses that you will provide
will not be shared.

identities as participants will be concealed from the public. The only people who will have access to
the files pertaining to this investigation are the people who are proposing carrying out the
investigation, as they will be the only ones who will have the cabinet secured with a lock and key.

Sharing the Results

After the investigation has been completed, the findings will be presented and discussed at a research
conference that will take place on the main campus of the University of Cebu. Everyone who
participated in the research defense will receive a copy of the research paper that contains the findings
of the study, including the research instructor, the research adviser, and the people who served on the
research defense panel. It will be published on an as-needed basis in order to make it accessible to the
academic community and the school itself so that they can gain knowledge from it.
In cases when it is important to do so, you are welcome to also discuss the results, and the researcher
will give you a copy of the report. Please mention the timeline and the rationale for providing the
information, as well as the specifics, if you have a plan to do so and if you intend to do so.
