SETUP

This guide is meant to accompany the tutorial video at murphysmagic.com/blackmirror

(password: shortcuts587), so please have this accessible as you watch the videos. Don’t
skip the Routine Notes section, there’s additional tips, effects & bonus Shortcuts!

STEP 1: CONFIRM / ADJUST YOUR PHONE’S SETTINGS

• Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock, set it to ”Never”
• Settings > Sounds & Haptics, make sure that “Change with Buttons” is set to OFF
• Settings > Face ID & Passcode, toggle “Use Face ID for iPhone Unlock” to ON
• Settings > Shortcuts > Advanced, make sure all toggles are set to on
• Settings > Books > Page Turn Animation, make sure it is set to ”Curl”

STEP 2: SHORTCUTS APP

Please make sure you have the Shortcuts app installed on your
iPhone. You likely do as it has come pre-installed since iOS 13.
If you don’t have it on your device, you can download it here:
https://tinyurl.com/shortcutsappstore
If you would like to learn more about the Shortcuts app, you can view Apple’s
user guide here: https://support.apple.com/guide/shortcuts/welcome/ios

STEP 3: ACTIONS APP

Please download the free Actions app on your phone. This app adds
extra functionality to the Shortcuts app. Once the app is installed, no
further setup is needed. https://tinyurl.com/actionsappstore
This app requires iOS 17. If you have an earlier version of iOS, please update to
iOS 17. If your device does not support iOS 17, do not worry, alternate compatible
Shortcuts are provided.

STEP 4: ANY TEXT APP

Please download the free Any Text app. This will be used for one of the
Word Peek Shortcuts. Once the app is installed, open it and tap on
Widget 1, then tap the Settings cog in the upper right and turn Show
Icon When Empty to OFF. http://tinyurl.com/anytextappstore

STEP 5: FILES APP

You will need to confirm you have the Files app installed on your
iPhone in order to perform many of the effects. This app comes pre-
installed on iPhones, but if you do not have it, you can download it
here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/files/id1232058109

2
SETUP

STEP 6: APPLE BOOKS APP

Please confirm you have the free Books App installed. This will be
used for in the Book Test routine. http://tinyurl.com/applebooksapp

STEP 7: INSTALLING THE SHORTCUTS AND RELATED ASSETS

Scan the QR code to the right (or click the link) to install the
Black Mirror Installer Shortcut on your device. This “master”
Shortcut contains direct links to download all the Shortcuts,
photos & apps to perform the effects on this project.

You must approve all the authorizations that pop up in the

Shortcuts to install Black Mirror Project. Periodically during the
install you will be asked if you have iOS 17 - if you press “Yes”,
you will be taken to versions of the Shortcuts that support
enhanced features offered on iOS 17. If you say “No”, you will
be presented with compatible versions for your iOS.

I strongly suggest only installing these Shortcuts while

watching along with the video tutorial. Note: When you install “AI
Photo Generator” & “Cam Text To Photo (AI)”, it will ask you to Setup or Click Here
the Shortcut and enter an API Key – you can skip that step for now.

STEP 8: CONFIRM THE LOCATION OF THE PHOTOS IN FILES APP

Once you have run the “Download Necessary Photos” action in the Black Mirror
Installer, open your Files app and confirm that there is a folder called “Black
Mirror Photos” in your Files app at this exact location: “iCloud Drive > Black
Mirror Photos”. The Shortcut should download them at this location
automatically, but it never hurts to confirm as it needs to be here for many of the
effects to work correctly.

STEP 9: SETTING UP DALL-E ACCOUNT / API KEY

The AI version of Photo Prediction requires a free DALL-E account. If
you don’t have one, you can register HERE. Once setup, go to:
https://platform.openai.com/api-keys and click “Create new secret
key”, call it whatever you like), then hit “Create secret key”. Copy the
text of that key and email it to yourself. Now launch your Shortcuts app and click
the 3 dots to open the edit view of AI Photo Generator. You will see an empty “Text”
box near the top of the Shortcut – copy and paste the text key you emailed yourself
into that box and hit Done.
3
SETUP

STEP 10: AUTHORIZING THE SHORTCUTS

The final step is to run every Shortcut (follow along with the tutorial video) and hit
“Always Allow” whenever prompted to authorize the actions the Shortcut will do.
Please follow along in the tutorial video to see this process done in real time so
you do everything correctly.

------------------------------------------------------
POTENTIAL FUTURE UPDATES
In the event an update to any of the Shortcuts becomes available, the Black Mirror
Installer will notify you whenever it is launched. Follow the instructions on screen
and you will get the latest versions - just be sure to run the Shortcut occasionally
so it can check if you have the latest Shortcuts.

BLUETOOTH SELFIE REMOTE (OPTIONAL)

Most routines on this project include multiple variations with different ways of
activating the Shortcuts. For some specific routines, optional handlings are taught
using a Bluetooth Selfie Remote. The remote is not required as you can perform
the effect using alternate hands off triggers (such as Automations, etc.), but the
remote does allow for some fantastic handlings. You likely may already own one,
or you can find one on Amazon for under $8 here.

BOOK TEST
ADDITIONAL SETUP:
If you haven’t done so, you must go to Settings > Books > Page Turn Animation
and make sure it is set to ”Curl”. Next, open Books and tap into any book, then tilt
the phone horizontally so the view changes orientation and press the orientation
lock icon in the bottom left of the screen (this only needs to be done once and it
will remember your setting).
To perform the Voice Command version, go to Settings > Accessibility > Voice
Control > Toggle it ON, then press Commands > Create New Command > Set A
Phrase (e.g. “Okay”) and set the action to run the “Book Test Voice 1” Shortcut. Set
another voice command (e.g. “Perfect”) to run the “Book Test Voice 2” Shortcut.

NOTES:
• There is a very limited selection of Books in the Apple Books store that are
labeled as ”Enhanced Books” – these are not compatible with this effect.
• There are 2 versions of the Book Test effect: A Remote and a Voice version
• The Remote version can also be performed without the optional Bluetooth
remote. Simply hold the phone by the edges as they swipe, then secretly
press the Volume Up button when they are done. The advantage of using the
optional remote is it would allow the effect to be performed hands off.
• Since the Voice version uses voice recognition, it’s best in quieter settings.
• In your Black Mirror Photos folder in File are 5 eBooks with different
covers/titles, but the same text. Tap the EPUB files to load them into Books,
then save each to Want To Read. Now you can give your participant a choice
of 5 books and yet you only need to remember your two force words!

TROUBLESHOOTING:
• If you are using the optional Bluetooth selfie remote and it is not triggering
the Shortcut, your phone may not be set to control media volume with the
buttons, so please revisit Step 1 back on page 2.

ROUTINE NOTES

LOTTO
NOTES:
• Mute the shutter/click sound when taking a photo using the ring/silent switch.

• Try to write the numbers clearly to aid the OCR scan it more accurately.
• Be mindful of curves that can look like letters (e.g. the number 5 and the letter S,
the number 1 and a lowercase L, etc.).
• Here’s a Practice Shortcut that will pop up the text so you can confirm if the scan
was done correctly: www.icloud.com/shortcuts/5fbc66a9eb8c4ac6ab3db874e7df453c

COMPATIBILITY:
• “Lotto Prediction” requires iOS 17 as it uses the Actions app to change the
metadata of the 3 photos that get added to your gallery to adjust the
date/timestamps of the photos appropriately.

• “Lotto Prediction (pre17)” is for users who are running earlier versions of iOS.
The only difference is it wont adjust the dates of the photos in the gallery (though
workarounds are covered in the video tutorial).

USING REGIONAL LOTTERY TICKETS:

• The default Shortcuts use a Mega Millions lotto ticket for the United States.
However, it is possible to manually customize the Shortcuts and template photo to
use a regional lotto ticket. Illuminati Magic offer a database of lotto ticket images
from around the world, find the one in your region and download it for free from
their website (and check out their amazing line of products while you’re there!).
Open this image in any photo editing software (e.g. Photoshop) and remove the
lotto numbers and date from the the ticket and save the file.

• Next, open the “Lotto Ticket.png” template in the photo editing software and
overlay this new lotto ticket file you just saved on top of the existing Mega Millions
one. Save this photo under the same name (“Lotto Ticket.png”) and overwrite the
existing file in your Black Mirror Photos folder in iCloud Drive in the Files app.

• The next step is to open the Shortcut and scroll down to the first action that begins
with ”Overlay” as you are going to edit this by doing some trial and error of
adjusting the coordinates, font, size, rotation, etc. until the DATE is aligned in the
correct location on the new ticket.
• Next, find the second Overlay action – these are the Numbers. You will have to
once again do some trial and error with the coordinates, font, size, rotation, etc.
until the numbers are aligned in the correct location on the new ticket.

6
ROUTINE NOTES

• If you want to use a ticket that has five numbers instead of six, here is how to easily
adjust the Shortcut: https://vimeo.com/921889987/59387148ee
• If you do take the time to customize this, it would be incredible if you could please
share the photo and Shortcut in the Black Mirror Facebook Group!

US Template UK Template

FAILSAFE CAMERA INPUT VERSION (USING NOTES APP’S OCR CAMERA):

This version adds a layer of assurance in that you will see the scan of the numbers
to confirm its accuracy before executing the overlay. When the Shortcut is run, a
new Note will open. Press the camera icon in the Notes app and tap “Scan Text”
and you will see the camera view appear on the lower half of the screen. Place
the phone facedown – you are ready to perform. To do the OCR, pick up the
phone and point the camera at the numbers and you will see them appear in the
Note. Tap “Insert” to lock them in, then hit Volume Down to activate the overlay.
The note will automatically be deleted during the Shortcut to clean up. Note: This
version works best with the numbers written on a single line, not 2 rows.

TROUBLESHOOTING
• If the overlays are not showing up, or you are getting an error when using the main
camera version, try using the Practice Shortcut to confirm it is scanning the numbers
accurately. You may also want to check if there is really harsh lighting, faint ink, etc. 7
ROUTINE NOTES

MAPS
NOTES:
• You can choose to use Apple Maps, Google Maps
or Waze. Find the Action in the Shortcut that says
“Open [Text] in Maps”, expand it and select from
Google Maps, Waze or Apple from the menu. It is
set to Google Maps by default.

VERSIONS:
• There are 2 versions of this Shortcut, each with its own input method:
”Google Maps (Remote)” & ”Google Maps (Automation)”

• ”Google Maps (Remote)” is designed to work with a Bluetooth selfie remote

so the button press triggers the Shortcut.

• ”Google Maps (Automation)” uses an Automation so that when the

participant closes the Notes app, the Shortcut automatically runs. To do this,
open the Shortcuts app, tap the Automation tab, then + to Create Personal
Automation. Scroll down, select App, choose the Notes app and only check
“Is Closed”, then set Run Shortcut to “Google Maps Prediction (Automation)”.

When you are ready to perform the effect, go to the Automation Tab in the
Shortcuts app, select this Automation and toggle it to “Run Immediately”, then
exit out of the app. In performance, after the swipe out out of the Notes app,
instruct them to hold the phone against their chest. After a delay, the dirty
work secretly takes place and they can now open Google Maps to see your
prediction. Just remember to turn off the automation after your performance.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
• Some Bluetooth remotes are programmed weird and when pressed, they
hide the on-screen keyboard. This is problematic since they are writing the in
the Notes app. Solution: if you are using the optional remote, use one that
does not do this (e.g. this one).

8
ROUTINE NOTES

PHOTO PREDICTION
VERSIONS:
• There are multiple versions of Photo Prediction to choose from:

Version 1: ”AI Photo (Remote)” & “AI Photo Generator” use DALL-E AI to
generate an image from text inputted in the Notes app and save that image to
either your gallery or wallpaper.

Version 2: “Unsplash Photo (Remote)” & “Unsplash Photo Generator”

sources an image from unsplash.com that matches the text inputted in the
Notes app, then saves that image to your gallery or wallpaper.

Version 3: “Cam Text To Photo” (both AI and Unsplash versions) use the
phone’s camera to input handwritten text and save the sourced image to
either your gallery or wallpaper.

• The versions with Remote in the title are designed to work with a Bluetooth
Selfie Remote, but this is optional. You can retrieve the phone to place it
down on the table, secretly pressing the Volume Up button as you do so.

• All versions labelled as AI use DALL-E. You will have to add add a minimum of
$5 to your OpenAI account to activate the DALL-E API and perform the effect.
Thankfully, at the time of writing this, it is only two cents per image, meaning
you have 250 images to generate ready to go for that $5!
• All versions labelled as Unsplash do not use AI and instead pulls from a
royalty free image website. This is quicker and much easier to setup than the
AI versions and there are no trials, fees or API keys to worry about, however
the results are a tiny bit more limiting and the images it will output will look
more professionally shot compared to the photos the AI version generates, so
adjust your presentation accordingly.
• “(pre17)” versions are compatible with earlier versions of iOS. The only
difference is it lacks the ability to adjust the dates of the generated images
(though workarounds are covered in the video tutorial).
• Instead of using the optional remote, you can setup an Automation to trigger
either “AI Photo Generator” or “Unsplash Photo Generator”. To do this,
launch the Shortcuts app, tap the Automation tab, then + to Create Personal
Automation. Scroll down, select App, choose the Notes app and only check
“is Closed”, then set Run Shortcut to either “AI Photo Generator” “Unsplash
Photo Generator” (whichever version you want to run).
9
ROUTINE NOTES
• When you are ready to perform the effect with the Automation, go to the
Automation Tab in the Shortcuts app, select this Automation and toggle it to
“Run Immediately”, then exit the app. In performance, when they write in the
word in Notes and swipe out of the Notes app, the Shortcut will automatically
run secretly and generate the images. Just remember to turn the automation
off after your performance.

NOTES:
• Mute the shutter/click sound when taking a photo using the ring/silent switch
• The zoo presentation is one of dozens of possible routines you can do. While
you can predict ANYTHING I think its important to restrain their selections. If
they say a yellow convertible parked at a beach at sunset and you have a
photo of that, they will think its AI. But if they think of an animal, meal or
instrument, this finite selection to choose from appears more plausible.

• The Shortcut will translate the inputted text on the backend in any language as
I built Google Translate into the backend of the Shortcut.

• If OpenAI ever decides to change their pricing structure, you can always view
the latest pricing on their website, just scroll to the “Image Models” section.

• AI / Unsplash Photo Generator and Cam Text To Photo (Unsplash / AI) allow
you to select your output to either your gallery or wallpaper. Open the edit
view and look for the “Comment” action – beneath that is a Text box with either
a G or W. If it is G, it will save to your gallery. Change the text to W and it will
save as your wallpaper.

CAMERA TO PHOTO GALLERY / WALLPAPER:

• In this version a word is written down on a billet, piece of paper, etc. Make
sure there is no visible text near the written word, point the camera at the word
and take a picture, then tap use photo. Your home screen will appear and you
can now turn your phone to the audience. When you feel the device vibrate,
that is your cue that the photo has been saved either in your gallery or as your
wallpaper (whichever you chose in the Shortcut’s Text box).

• The scan of the text works incredibly well – it will even scan it upside down! I
have also tried writing left handed (I’m right handed) and it also scanned it
accurately. You can use the same practice Shortcut from the Lotto routine
section to test it.

10
ROUTINE NOTES
WALLPAPER OUTPUT SETUP:
• Once you install these Shortcuts, you will need to set a second wallpaper on
your iPhone. Go to your lock screen and long press anywhere on the screen,
then tap the blue + icon to add a new wallpaper. Now press Photos and
choose any photo you took with your phone’s camera from your gallery, then
hit the blue Add button. When the pop-up appears to either “Set as
Wallpaper Pair” or “Customize Home Screen”, select “Customize Home
Screen” and make the background wallpaper image/color of the Home
Screen the same as your primary Wallpaper’s Home Screen background
image/color. Its important to keep them the same so that when they are on
your home screen, they wont see the background of the Home Screen
change once the Lock Screen Wallpaper switches over to the generated
image. Make sure this new wallpaper is set as the second wallpaper slot.
Lastly, open the edit view of the Shortcuts and scroll down to the very bottom
and make sure the final two actions of the Shortcut are switching to
“Wallpaper 2” (just tap on ”Wallpaper” and select ”Wallpaper 2” as needed).

• CAUTION: Please keep in mind that this is generating/sourcing a photo and

setting it as a wallpaper. It is not designing the photo as a wallpaper. So while
it is told to crop to subject, occasionally the wallpaper is not cropped well.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
• If the AI (DALL-E) version of Photo Prediction is stalling out and not generating
your photo, or you receive a pop up message saying it can’t find the file for
“Images”, there are a couple things you need to check:

1. Make sure that there are NO SPACES OR NEW LINES after the API Key
you pasted into the shortcut.
2. Check your funds on your account (e.g. you may have set a limit that
you surpassed or you need to add more funding)

• Some Bluetooth remotes are programmed weird and when pressed, they
hide the on-screen keyboard. This is problematic since they are writing the in
the Notes app. Solution: if you are using the optional remote, use one that
does not do this (e.g. this one).

IMPROVING AI / DALL-E RESULTS:

This text box is the prompt that is sent to AI to
generate the image (“Contents of Web Page” is the
text they wrote – such as “Tiger”). If you are doing
the Zoo presentation and they say ”Chicken” and
you get a result of Chicken Nuggets (which is a
stretch), you can edit this text box to say “Photo of
[Contents of Web Page] at a zoo” as the descriptive
text will generate a more accurate desired image.
11
ROUTINE NOTES
SWITCHING TO DALL-E 3:
• The Shortcuts use DALL-E 2 as it’s cheaper ($0.02 per image compared to
DALL-E 3 which starts at $0.04 per image.

• OpenAI has said they have no plans to sunset DALL-E 2 at this time despite
DALL-E 3 being available. If they ever do shut it down and run DALL-E 3, the
Shortcuts will be updated for you so be sure to check the Black Mirror Installer
for updates if that is ever the case.

• If you want to change the Shortcuts to use DALL-E 3, look for this action below
in the Shortcuts and change it to as you see below. (Please note that the blue
“Text” variable is linked to your Secret API Key).

12
ROUTINE NOTES

BIRTHDAY GIFT
COMPATIBILITY:
• There are THREE versions of the Shortcut: Birthday Gift (M/D), Birthday Gift
(D/M) & Birthday Gift (pre17)

• “Birthday Gift (M/D)“ & “Birthday Gift (D/M)“ require iOS 17.

• “Birthday Gift (pre17)” is compatible with earlier versions of iOS. This version
places the chosen gift in the “Your Gift” album of your Photo Gallery. However
it will NOT add their birthday as the date the photo was taken.

• The difference between “Birthday Gift (M/D)“ and “Birthday Gift (D/M)“ is the
format of the input, based on what is standard in your country.
o “M/D” version: The Month will be inputted first, then the Date
o “D/M” version: The Date will be inputted first, then the Month

NOTES:
• The Gift Guide list & template can be downloaded from the tutorial page

TIPS & SUGGESTIONS:

• You do not have to print out the graphic. I have also performed this by texting
them the photo (or the link to the photo above) so they view it on their phone.

• You can split up the input by first asking for their birthday. Then have them look
over the graphic to pick their gift. As they browse the list, use this misdirection
to enter the date into the numpad. When they say the gift / number, its super
quick to just enter that number and you’re done! This is how I now perform the
effect.

13
ROUTINE NOTES

WORD PEEK
VERSIONS:
• There are two versions: ”Word Peek (Alert)” and ”Word Peek (Widget)” +
”Word Peek (Widget - Reset)”.

• ”Word Peek (Alert)” will display the word to peek on your command in a pop
up notification on the lock screen.

• ”Word Peek (Widget)” will display the word you will peek hidden boldly in
plain sight within a text widget on your home screen. To get this setup, with
the Any Text app installed, long press on your lock screen so the editing
options appear, press Customize on the bottom of the screen, tap the Lock
Screen on the left, tap the top widget box above the clock, then select the
Any Text widget (make sure it’s the one labeled “Widget 1”), then hit “Done”.

NOTES:
• Face ID must be enabled to be able to activate the peek from the lock screen.

• Both versions feature handlings using a Bluetooth Selfie Remote, but other
handlings are included that do not require one.

• The ”Word Peek (Widget - Reset)” will remove the word from the lock screen
when the volume is pressed to 100% and the word is tapped on.

• Make sure that you turned “Show Icon When Empty” to OFF in the settings of
the Any Text app.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
• Some Bluetooth remotes are programmed weird and when pressed, they
hide the on-screen keyboard. This is problematic since they are writing the in
the Notes app. Solution: if you are using the optional remote, use one that
does not do this (e.g. this one).

14
ROUTINE NOTES

VACATION
VERSIONS:
• There are two versions: ”Vacation (M/D)” and ”Vacation (D/M)”
o “M/D” version: The Month will be inputted first, then the Date
o “D/M” version: The Date will be inputted first, then the Month
• PLEASE NOTE THIS EFFECT REQUIRES iOS 17 (and the free Actions App)

NOTES:
• If you are performing this offline, the text location on the map will appear, but
the map itself wont appear.
• If you choose to send them the photo as a keepsake, the location geo-tag will
remain, but the date will now show the time the SMS/iMessage was sent.
• The Top 20 Travel Hotspots list & template can be downloaded from the
tutorial page

TIPS & SUGGESTIONS:

• Instead of printing the graphic, you can text them the photo (or the link) so they
view it on their phone.
• You can split up the input by first asking for their birthday (or whatever date
they would like to travel). Then have them look over the graphic to pick their
destination. As they browse the list, use this misdirection to enter the date into
the numpad. When they say the location/number, its super quick to just enter
that number and you’re done! This is how I now perform the effect.

APP IN TEG R ATIO N S

INJECT
Black Mirror Project + Greg Rostami’s Inject is an incredible combination!
The inputs for certain routines happen on the SPECTATOR’S PHONE! Instead
of having the word entered into your Notes app, you can have them search it
on “Google” on their phone.

PHOTO PREDICTION + GOOGLE MAPS (BLACK MIRROR + INJECT):

AI Photo: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/d4a41e80b7e7415a836c4919e8c17140

Google Maps: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/dc59447c4d314eabb055a606a87d61be

Open the edit view of all three Shortcuts and right near the top you will see a text box
with a comment instructing you to write your Inject ID in the text box. If you don’t know
what it is, you can find it here.

When you are ready to perform, launch the Shortcut of your choice and place your
phone facedown. Now open your custom Google URL on your spectator’s phone via
your favorite method (e.g. NFC, etc.). Have them perform a search - for a city, animal,
object, etc. depending on the routine. Once they execute the search, the Shortcut will
automatically do the rest! Afterwards, launch Inject, run the “Basic Transmitter” and
thump any single character (e.g. “a”). Note: If you are using the Wallpaper reveal, turn
off Inject notifications so they wont appear on your lock screen.

QR GENIE
Shameer Salim’s excellent QR Genie supports Black Mirror Project integration
for the Photo Prediction routine. In QR Genie, go to Settings > App
Integrations, scroll down and activate the integration for “The Architect of
Predictions”. This will work with Black Mirror Project as it is going to grab the
latest photo in your photo gallery to reveal in your custom linkgen.ie or qrgen.ie URLs.
(Note: You will have to edit the Shortcut to remove the “Food” and “Coffee” images from
being saved to your gallery for this integration to work. To do this, enter the Shortcut and
near the end delete the actions “Save Coffee to Recents” and “Save Food to Recents”.

16
APP IN TEG R ATIO N S

HYDRA
The Word Peeks are a terrific combo when paired with Hydra from Shameer
Salim. With this integration, not only do you get the lock screen peek of their
word, but it will also add the word in your Instagram bio or a Facebook post!
This adds an extra phase, showing that you not only can peek and reveal the
world from the locked phone, but you can also mentioned you predicted the word they
would choose when they go to your social media profile on their phone as a finale!

Note: You will need to have the Hydra app and Upgrade 1 that unlocks Hydra’s Wikitest
& Inject integration, among other apps. You also must have iOS 17 or later installed.

Widget Peek + Hydra: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/582f0addfba643d7a696ca535ce08913

Alert Peek + Hydra: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/0f2789ca806647e3a09d2438856cb27a

Open the edit view of all three Shortcuts and right near the top you will see a text box
with a comment instructing you to write your email address in the text box. This needs
to be the same email you used to register your Hydra App.

Next, please follow the instructions that came with the Hydra upgrade to unlock the
integration features in the app, if you have not done so already.
Go to Settings > App Integrations and click Add New. You will be presented with 3 lines
of text to fill out for Name, URL and Field (see image below). Enter the following:

Name: BlackMirror
URL: https://app.ellusionist.com/webapi/hydra-getPeek-api.php?email=youremailaddress@emailserver.com
(Replace this yellow text with your email)

Field: peek

When ready to perform, go to INSTA PREDICT or FB

Predict and you will see BLACKMIRROR as an option
under App Integrations.

Select that, choose your template and hit perform.

You can also tap the heart icon to favorite this so you
can quick launch it in the future.

Please refer to the guide that came with the Hydra

Upgrade 1 for more detailed information if needed.

CLOSING

OPTIONAL BLUETOOTH SELFIE REMOTE TIPS

• You do not have to turn the remote off. Most will power down to stand-by
mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. When you want to perform, press the
button to reconnect to your phone (you will see the volume increase on your
device when the press is registered), then launch into your Shortcut – at this
point you have 5 minutes until the remote goes back into stand-by mode.
• The range of most remotes is up to 30 feet, so you can have some good
distance between you and your participant when performing.
• I recommend putting a small strip of electrical tape over the light to help
conceal it while in finger palm.
• You can greatly reduce the clicking noise by modding the remote with
electrical tape, here’s a quick walkthrough of how to do so:
https://vimeo.com/899733179/a6fcd5ce98

DYNAMIC ISLAND
If you have a more recent iPhone model, you likely have Dynamic Island (the pill-
shaped black strip in the display that displays notifications). When a Shortcut is
running in the background, Dynamic Island will show the Shortcut’s icon to
indicate it is running. Simply swipe the Dynamic Island bar to the left or to the
right and the Shortcut’s icon will disappear.

Thank you so much for investing your time in the Black Mirror Project – it really
means so much to me. Tons of work and sleepless nights went into developing
this project for just over one year, with constant tweaks and improvements over
that span of time. I hope you get a lot of joy out of performing these effects. I
would also like to thank everyone on the Murphy’s Magic team who had their
hands in helping to bring this project to the masses. I also would like to
especially thank Paul Brook and Shameer Salim for their assistance when I hit a
wall trying to tackle a technical challenge, and Nikolas Mavresis for helping
design some of the artwork used throughout the project. I can’t wait to show you
more of my upcoming Shortcuts projects that are in the pipeline – see you then!
