(Active Recreation)
INTRODUCTION
Recreation is a therapeutic refreshment or relaxation to one’s body
and mind. Activities done for this purpose are called recreational activities.
Its main objective is to revitalize the physical, mental, social, ad emotional
aspects of a person.
Dance is a recreational activity that can develop our physical,
mental, social and emotional health. Dancing as part of our lifestyle can
surely sustain our fitness but it should be coupled with proper eating habits
and weight management in order to live a healthy life.
Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to
hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a
wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping which were
created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.
STREET DANCE
 Street Dance – refers to dance styles that have evolved
outside dance studios. It is performed in streets, dance
parties, parks, and school yards or in any available space.
 It I often improvisational and social in nature,
encouraging interaction and contact with spectators and
other dancers.

B. Popping
-was popularized by Samuel Bigalo
Solomon and his crew called the Electric
Boogalos. It is based on the technique of
quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to
cause a jerk in a dancer’s body.

C. Locking
– was created by Don Campbellock Campbell
in 1969. It was popularized by his crew called “the
lockers”. It is usually performed by stopping the fast
movement that you are doing, locking your body
into a position, holding it, and then continuing at
the same speed as before.
D. Krumping
– is a form of dance that originated in the
African-American community of South
Central Los Angeles and it is a new form of the
urban: black dance movement. The most people
paint their faces in different designs.

– it is a creative way of making geometric
shapes forming light angle using your body parts.
It is derived from positions people were drawn in
during of the Ancient Egyptians style.

F. Shuffling
– also known as Rocking or simply “The
Shuffle” it is a rave and club dance that originated
in the late 1980’s in the under-ground rave music
scene in Melbourne, Australia.

SAFETY MEASURES TO BE CONSIDERED IN
HIP-HOP DANCING.
1. Drink plenty of water before and after dancing.
2. Warm up thoroughly before you start dancing and
include stretches
3. Wear layer of clothing that you can take off as your body
warms up.
4. Wear professionally fitted shoes appropriate to your style
of dance.

IT’S STREET DANCE TIME!
1. The class will be grouped into 5 and each group
will create a simple dance routine (1-2 minutes)
applying in street dance like b-boying, Popping,
shuffling, tutting and locking.
2. Each group will record your performance task
and upload it to your Tiktok account. A link will be
sent to the teacher's account through messenger
by the chosen leader.
4. The output will be pass on or before of April 17,
2023 (Monday).
5. Practice for 20 minutes (avoid injuries).
6. Your performance will be rated according to the
