THE IGOROTS OF PAST THE CONSISTENCY INTERESTING FACTS OF

The Igorot peoples are
Austronesians. They were
known in earlier days for their
wars and practice of
headhunting. The Spaniards
forcibly partially subdued them
during the colonial occupation
of the Philippines,period of US
hemegony
The Igorot numbered about 1.5
million in the early 21st
century. Their languages
belong to the northern Luzon
subgroup of the Philippine
languages, which belong to the
Austronesian (Malayo-
Polynesian) family.
IGOROTS?
The Igorot believe in spirits,
including the spirits of
ancestors, and have complex
rituals to appease them. There
are no clans or tribes, and
political organization level.

CONCLUSION:
The Igorots may be roughly
divided into two general
subgroups: the larger group
lives in the south, central and
western areas, and is very adept
at rice-terrace farming
