VI. CORE SAP ERP MODULES
To better understand the impact of SAP ERP systems on business process optimization and
decision-making efficiency, we will delve into six key modules: Financial Accounting (FI), Materials
Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Human Capital Management (HCM), Customer
Relationship Management (CRM), and Production Planning (PP).
Financial Accounting (FI): The FI module manages financial transactions and generates financial
statements for external reporting. It covers various aspects, including general ledger accounting,
accounts payable, accounts receivable, and asset accounting. With real-time access to financial data,
organizations can make informed financial decisions, enhance cash flow management, and ensure
regulatory compliance.
Materials Management (MM): The MM module encompasses procurement, inventory
management, and invoice verification. It streamlines purchasing, goods receipt, and inventory
valuation processes, enabling businesses to optimize material management and reduce inventory
holding costs. With efficient procurement and inventory control, organizations can make better
decisions regarding resource allocation.
Sales and Distribution (SD): The SD module manages the entire sales process, from order
processing to delivery, billing, and revenue recognition. It supports pricing, tax calculations, and
customer credit management. By automating and integrating sales processes, this module improves
sales efficiency, customer service, and overall revenue generation.
Human Capital Management (HCM): The HCM module manages HR processes such as
personnel administration, payroll, time management, and organizational management. It enables
organizations to streamline HR functions, improving employee productivity, retention, and
satisfaction. By providing real-time insights into workforce performance and talent management, this
module allows businesses to make data-driven decisions related to human resources.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM): The CRM module consolidates customer data,
automates sales and marketing activities, and provides real-time analytics, enabling organizations to
make data-driven decisions regarding customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction. CRM also
enhances decision-making by offering insights into customer preferences, behavior, and trends,
helping businesses tailor their products and services accordingly.
Production Planning (PP): The PP module is designed to optimize production processes,
including material requirements planning (MRP), capacity planning, and production order
management. By providing a comprehensive view of production operations, this module enables
organizations to make better decisions related to demand forecasting, production planning, and
resource allocation. It also helps improve overall operational efficiency and reduce production costs.
