Characters in the play
1. Bailiff =an official in a court of law who keeps order, looks after prisoners, etc.
2. Court Reporter =a journalist who attends court hearings and reports on the proceedings.
3. Defendant =a person accused of committing a crime in criminal prosecution or a person
against whom some type of civil relief is being sought in a civil case. Terminology varies
from one jurisdiction to another.
4. Defense Attorney =a lawyer specializing in the defense of individuals and companies
charged with criminal activity.
5. Judge =a public officer appointed to decide cases in a law court.
6. Juror/Jury =a member of a jury/Twelve (or six) of people who listen to the testimonies of
all the witnesses during a trial. After the judge has given them special instructions, they
decide the outcome or verdict of the trial.
7. Prosecutor=a barrister or other lawyer who conducts the case against a defendant in a
criminal court.
8. Witness =a person who sees an event, typically a crime or accident, take place.

-The plot of this play is based on the original play, Macbeth by William Shakespeare.
-This play script may not be suitable in real life in some parts, and if this happened, we
are sorry for that, this is the very first time in our lives that we write a court case.

Opening
(The Judge came in)
Judge: “All rise. This court is now in session.
Be seated, please.
 Good Morning, Ladies and Gentleman, today is the court trial day of Macbeth case.This
whole case includes murder case of killing King Duncan, Banquo, Macduff’s family and
case of trying to kill Banquo’s son, Fleance.There are several trial processes and I would
Like to explain them.
Step 1 - Opening statement made by the prosecutor or plaintiff

Dear juries, you must listen to the evidence during a trial, decide what facts the
evidence has been established, and draw inferences from those facts to form the
basis for their decision.
Now, the prosecutor can start your opening.”
Prosecutor: “Macbeth mac Findlaech and his wife, Lady Macbeth are mainly accused for killing the
King of Scotland, Duncan and Thane of Lochaber, Banquo,Lady Macduff and their son.
In the case for Banquo, there are 2 fellows. Firstly for the King Duncan, our lord
visited Macbeth’s castle one day. That night, he was killed suddenly. So, we can
say that anyone who was currently in that castle is suspicious enough to be the
murderer. Not only King Duncan, but also his knights were killed. As our observations,
Our lord was killed by a dagger. He was killed while he was asleep. Two grooms of
the king were also dead; covered with blood on their face and with a dagger.It seemed like
the knights had murdered the King.However,there were no blood on their hands which
Means the real murderer has tricked us.
Since it happened in the defendant's castle, the defendant is guilty.The doctor also
reported to me that Lady Macbeth has been seeing blood on her hands. This even
states more that Macbeth and his wife are guilty.
Thank you.”
Judge :”Will the defendant please rise.”
Defendant:”It’s correct that the King came to my castle but how dare you think that I killed him? And
Lady Macbeth doesn’t see blood in her hands. It’s just a normal disease and any doctor
can make her into normal except this ridiculous doctor!I, Macbeth is honest and qualified
enough to be the King.”

Prosecutor : “Dear Judge, in the last sentence that he said, it means he wants to become a king one
day. Then Macbeth, where were you while our lord was killed?”
Defendant: “Of course, where would I be? It’s midnight! I was in my bedroom.”
Prosecutor : “What about you, lady Macbeth?”
Lady Macbeth : “It was the gentlewoman who killed the King!”
(The doctor and gentlewoman giving her a very amazed look with a sign at the same time)
“I witnessed it. I smelt blood in the next
morning when she entered the room. That’s when I started seeing blood in my hands!I
I am innocent!!!!!!
(Lady Macbeth gave a glance to the gentlewoman)
Don’t you dare tell me that you will push me into the danger and let Banquo’s son to
to become the king!I know that you have been trying to kill me and Macbeth since you
arrived!You don’t have any shame and even killed the king!”
(Gentlewoman staring at her with two big eyes which seems like she’s about to pass away.
Prosecutor:” Lady Macbeth, I asked “WHERE” you were at that time, I didn’t ask,”Did you kill the King” so
Dear judge, it stateeess. . . . .. . . . ..”
Lady Macbeth: “I didn’t kill the King! My husband didn’t kill the King!!!”!
(Prosecutor sighed) :” I haven’t finished my sentence yet.”
Prosecutor:”So dear judge, it states that something is wrong since Lady Macbeth has been saying
like
in a high pitched voice and crossing into my speech like that with “ I didn’t kill the King!
My husband didn’t kill the King!!!!Lady Macbeth is answering what she wants instead of my
Questions which is very suspicious.”
(Gentlewoman raised her hand)
Gentlewoman:”Your honours, Mr Prosecutor. I want to be clear here. I can swear that I never had any
conditions that I wanted to kill someone. And I have been loyal to Lady Macbeth since I
I met her.The doctor also knows that I am innocent.So please find out the real murderer
and please don’t be tricked.”
Prosecutor: “Thank you,gentlewoman and I would like to ask some questions to you now.
You and the doctor have been marked as a witness of Lady Macbeth seeing blood in her
hands,is that correct?”
Gentlewoman:”Yes, that’s true.I admit that Lady Macbeth has been seeing blood in her hands.
In the past several days, she has been staying in bed everyday and just trying
to wash them out.”
Lady Macbeth: “Oh My God! Who do you think you are?Huh?You are just a servant!Know your level!I am
Lady Macbeth! Nobody is allowed to attack me!!!”
Bailiff: “Defendant, stay quiet!”
Lady Macbeth: “Who are you giving demands to?This court case will fail and when I became powerful
again, you will be killed in my hands!”
Macbeth:(Oh no, why did she say that?They will find out soon about the truth.Oh no!)[in his mind]
Doctor: “I also admit that Lady Macbeth’s illness is not able to be cured by me or any doctors! She
should
have met a priest.”
Prosecutor:” Thank you.”
Judge:”Does the defence team have any questions?”
Defense” Attorney:Yes, we do!”
First witch:” Prosecutor, do you have any evidence to say that Macbeth admitted the crime?”
Second witch:”Are you sure that gentlewoman and doctor are the only witnesses that you’ve got?And
you
can call them “witnesses”?They didn’t even see the crime.”

Third witch:”Yeah, we are witches, we could see that you are hiding something from us.Isn’t it that you
wanted to put Macbeth in the court because you think that Macbeth killed the
King?”

Prosecutor: “Yes, I have more evidence!There is one more witness, he is late, he should be at the
Entrance right now.”
(Lennox enters)
Lennox:” I am so sorry to be late. Today, I came here to be the witness that Macbeth was the murderer.
I swear that I saw with my eyes.”
(The 1st murderer looked at the 2nd murderer.He suddenly remembered about his family waiting at his
home.)
Macbeth:(oh no! What should I do?What should I do? No, nothing’s wrong! I didn’t want to kill Duncan, it’s
only that I killed him.But,but, it’s even worse! What if I won’t get the throne?No, as my fate, I will not die
even if I had to go into the court.I will restart my life again)[in his mind]
Prosecutor: Macbeth, do you agree with this?
Lady Macbeth: “My dear, don’t answer! A prosecutor is from a lower class! We are high class people!You
don’t need to answer to a low class person like him!”
Prosecutor:”Macbeth, do you agree with this!?”
(the 1st murderer raised his hand)
1st murderer:” I am so sorry to cross your speech but now, I want to admit the truth.Banquo was killed by
 us and we were demanded by Macbeth.I miss my family.I will deserve what I have done.But
I want to finish this whole thing and see my family.”
Macbeth:[How weak minded he is!?]
(Banquo’s ghost appeared in front of Macbeth)
Banquo’s ghost:” I still cannot believe that a friend like you killed me and that you still can’t admit it!”
(It disappeared)
Macbeth:”Don’t appear again anymore! You bad friend!”
Lady Macbeth: (Oh no)
“Darling!”
2nd murderer: “I also admit that we killed Banquo by Macbeth’s demand.”
(A jury stood up.)
Fleance:”Thank goodness that I escaped, or else, I will be killed by them!”
Prosecutor:”Were the two men these men?”
Fleance: “Yes.Although I escaped, I at least remembered their faces.”
Macbeth:[ what will the witches do? Why haven’t they done any magical stuffs yet to win this case?]
Prosecutor :”MACBETH!Can you admit now”?
(Banquo’s face appeared in his mind) Without realising, and not knowing what to do, he accidentally said,
Macbeth:”Yes.”
(Oh no!)
(Lady Macbeth collapsed)
The three witches:” HA hah Hah AhHA!”
(Then they disappeared into the air)
That’s when Macbeth realised that he had been tricked by the witches.
Court reporter: “Does it mean that there will be no more of the closing statement of the defense and
Rebuttal argument? “
(The Judge nodded)

Prosecutor: “So, now, the closing statement!

All the witnesses and the defendants have admitted the truths.So, Macbeth murdered the
King, Banquo and the judges’ family members.For the case of Macduff’s family members,
Macbeth has admitted it in the investigation process.And in addition, his punishment will
be
also extended because he tried to kill Fleance,Banquo’s son regarding the law of . . .. .”
Macbeth:”What!?”
( He realized that the witches had tricked him again!)
Judge: “Juries’ turn”
Juries:” We all agree that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are guilty.”
Judge:” Ok, so it’s my turn for a verdict now.
In this case, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to be killed and the two murderers to stay in the court
for
forever.This court is adjourned.Thank you.”
Bailiff: “All rise!”
