TOPIC: WATER CYCLE

HOW DOES DEFORESTATION AFFECT THE WATER CYCLE?

1 Trees lose water vapour 2 Warmer water vapour loses heat 3 When clouds become too
through the stomata on to the cooler surrounding air heavy, they fall as rain
the underside of the and condense to form water and return back to the
leaves. (Transpiration) droplets, which forms clouds. water bodies.

Explanation

Deforestation results in fewer trees releasing water vapour through the stomata of the leaves in the process of transpiration.
Thus there would be less water vapour losing heat to the surrounding air and condensing to form less tiny water droplet, causing
less clouds to be formed. Less clouds would fall as rain, slowing down the water cycle.
