Give 5 reasons for high earthquake vulnerability in the Philippines and explain each
in not less than 3 sentences

1. 1.Tectonic Plate Boundaries

The Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate are the two tectonic plates that
border the Philippines. Earthquakes are caused by the frequent and strong seismic
activity that arises from the collision of these plates.

2.. Geographical Location

The Philippines is an archipelago that is located at the western edge of the Pacific
Ocean and is made up of over 7,000 islands. Because of its position, the nation is
regularly struck by typhoons and earthquakes.

3. Unplanned Urbanization:
The Philippines' cities have rapidly and unpredictably become more urbanized,
which has led to inadequate infrastructure development. Because of this, many
structures now find it impossible to endure the force of earthquakes, leading to their
collapse.

4. Poverty
In the Philippines, a lot of people live in poverty. Because they lack the resources to
build earthquake-resistant homes, they frequently live in shantytowns that are more
vulnerable to seismic damage.

5. Lack of earthquake preparedness

Because so many Filipinos lack the knowledge necessary to prepare for or respond
to earthquakes, they are more susceptible to their impacts. In order to raise public
knowledge of earthquakes, the government should place a high priority on
earthquake preparation and fund educational initiatives.
