To Whom It May Concern,

I have been asked to write this letter by Angela Schiltz, who was a student in my clinical group
and theory course for Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing in the fall of 2023. I understand that
she is applying for a nurse residency position at your facility.

Ms. Schiltz was an involved and diligent student in my clinical lab. She arrived ready to work with
enthusiasm. She completed all assignments. She had a respectful presence with patients and
worked effectively with her peers. Her participation in post-conference reflected insightful
thinking and application. In behavioral health, patient behaviors are often unpredictable and
require fast responses. Ms. Schiltz exhibited a stable and calm presence with a concern for the
safety of patients and staff.

The comprehensive assignment in our Psychiatric Mental Health course is an analysis of a

therapeutic conversation with a patient. Verbal and nonverbal behaviors of the patient are
analyzed, and the student must address personal thoughts and behaviors as well. Ms. Schiltz’s
analysis was thorough and demonstrated excellent knowledge of therapeutic techniques.

Ms. Schiltz has demonstrated her commitment to healthcare and has taken steps to gain
experience and knowledge. We at the University of Arizona College of Nursing are very proud of
her. Please feel free to contact me should you need further information. Thank you for
considering this excellent applicant.

Respectfully,

Terri J. Farmer PhD, PMHNP - BC
