To whom it may concern:

I am pleased to recommend Ms. Andrea Acero to you for employment as a new graduate registered
nurse. I was one of Ms. Acero’s faculty instructors and mentor while she has been enrolled in the
Baccalaureate Nursing Program at the University of Arizona. During her time at the College of Nursing,
Ms. Acero has provided excellent care for the patients and their families. Both her academic and clinical
performance is outstanding. She also has done an excellent job of integrating theory into practice.

Ms. Acero is a conscientious, loyal worker and her strengths include the ability to critically think through
patient situations and present a possible solution. This is complimented by her excellent written and
verbal communication skills. She has demonstrated the delivery of compassionate, competent nursing
care to all patients almost independently. In addition, she eagerly accepts challenging situations, works
comprehensively, and is self directed. Ms. Acero quickly acquires new skills and once mastered, she is
self-motivated to learn more. She fully accepts the responsibility of advocating on behalf of patients and
their families. Ms. Acero was one student who constantly impressed me with her ability to critically
think through patient situations and see how thinks will affect the patient beyond the apparent. She was
able to gather relevant information seamlessly and incorporate it into her plan of care with patients. She
demonstrates emotional intellignence and is able to form a trusting relationship with patients.

On top of her busy academic workload, Ms. Acero has been part of a federally funded program that has
had summer intensive immersion experiences in the community along with additional classroom
education. This has added to her preparedness to care for patients in many different situations. She has
the added benefit of being bilingual in English/Spanish in a community that is predominately Mexican
American living next to the Mexico border. She mirrors the community in which she will provide care.
Ms. Acero has also taken the time to engage in leadership opportunities that have helped her grown
into the well-rounded person she portrays.

I support Ms. Acero’s application for employment as a nurse in her area of interest, as I believe she will
make significant contributions to the nursing profession. She is a bright, knowledgeable student who is
willing to work hard to meet her goals. She has proven to be very mature, a team player and supportive
of others. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions regarding her qualifications.

Sincerely,

Linda Perez
