Dear St. Joseph’s Nurse Residency Program Selection Committee,

It is with great confidence that I submit this letter of recommendation for Andrea Acero to be accepted into the
Nurse Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital within the Dignity Health Healthcare System. Andrea’s
demonstration of leadership skills, personal integrity, and commitment to advancing the health of underserved
populations makes her an extremely strong candidate for this residency program.

As an associate clinical professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner-Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the
University of Arizona College of Nursing and director of the HRSA-funded Nursing Workforce Diversity Arizona
Nursing Inclusive Excellence (ANIE) program, I have known Andrea for over two years. Since meeting Andrea, I
have been continually impressed with her compassion and dedication in serving others. The BSN program at the
University of Arizona involves rigorous study that often requires students to cease participation in extracurricular
activities to keep up with the demanding schedule. Andrea not only academically succeeds in a prestigious
program, but she simultaneously mentors her peers and is considered a student leader in the ANIE program. To
provide context, the ANIE program comprises leadership and professional identity development through
mentoring and skill building activities that are conducted in addition to the requirements of the BSN program. As
well as being a leader in ANIE, Andrea has been involved over 500+ community-based experiential training hours,
including the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine to over 300 migrant children at the U.S./Mexico border. Evidence of
her ability to succeed in multiple endeavors is also apparent in her impressive CV and her efforts will undoubtedly
have a great impact on health equity in a meaningful way.

The aim to attract academically successful students from notable, accredited baccalaureate nursing programs who
will go on to provide high quality care is ideally aligned with the skillset of Andrea Acero. She is an outstanding
student who will only strengthen an already robust foundation of clinical nursing competencies in the residency
program. It is with great assurance that I recommend Andrea Acero to be accepted into St. Joseph’s Nurse
Residency Program. With your support, I am confident Andrea’s ability to advance healthcare in a meaningful way
will be unmistakable. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Timian M. Godfrey DNP, FNP-BC, FAAN
