To Whom it May Concern, October 2020

I am pleased to recommend Madeline Gunnell for the position of new graduate nurse.
I had the pleasure of working with Madeline during the spring semester of 2020 as a
Clinical Instructor at The University of Arizona College of Nursing in the course
entitled “Acute and Chronic Illness Management II.” This course integrates the
principles of advanced medical and surgical nursing theory, pathophysiology, and
pharmacology into high acuity nursing practice. I supervised Madeline initially in a
high acuity, medical/surgical clinical practice setting, including intermediate care and
intensive care units. In addition, I observed Madeline actively participating in clinical
development sessions including simulation and lab settings. During the time of
transitioning to online learning, Madeline stayed very active in online discussions, 1:1
meetings, and continued skills development.

Throughout the semester, Madeline displayed leadership skills, confidence, and sound
clinical judgement. She was caring towards patients, respectful towards staff, and was
always punctual for class whether it was in-person or online. Madeline is the type of
new grad nurse that any manager would be fortunate to have on their unit because she
displays high level critical thinking skills and she is not afraid to ask questions.
During our time together, I enjoyed getting to know Madeline and I am confident she
is going to be an outstanding nurse!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,
