Some genres I have encountered with are articles, essays, and emails mostly.

While
being at school we always have to write, read, and annotate whether that be with articles or
essays. Doing these kinds of assignments you would think it would get easier because you have
so much experience with it. Especially since most people are in school for eighteen years so
you would assume you can fix those grammar mistakes you make. Although I would say as time
goes on you don't realize if you actually fix those mistakes until you see it happen with your own
eyes.
One genre that stood out to me would be the one that we started at the beginning of the
unit. While I was reading it I started thinking that the person who wrote this was really selfish
and self centered. As I kept reading I realized that the writer was actually imitating what the
author wrote. Which made me really surprised on how well she did and although the professor
thought they could improve on some stuff. Myself as the audience I was surprised that they
were able to imitate it really well to the point I thought it was their own work.
Encountering genres happen everyday in your life whether that be in your personal life
or academic life. In your personal life you would encounter genres with emails, text messages,
voice messages, etc. While in academic life you would encounter genres with essays, articles,
emails, etc. Although both are kind of the same thing they are also formatted differently. Text
messages are different from emails because text messages are usually informal with emojis
while emails are formatted with a Dear, and a thank you to at the end. Overall, the differences
between genres are actually impressive because you would never want to email your boss the
way you would text your best friend or family member.
