POVERTY

Poverty, the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or
material possessions. Poverty is said to exist when people lack the means to satisfy their basic
needs. Poverty needs to be prevented because it causes, hunger, malnutrition and illness.

The first reason why poverty should be prevented because it causes hunger. Poverty is the
greatest causes of hunger around the world in both higher wealth and low to middle income
countries, around the world, 608 million people live in extreme poverty. They survive on less
than $2.15 a day, an amount which is impossible to support a healthy livelihood in any part of
the world without sufficient and sustainable incomes, families cannot afford access to nutritious
food, clean water, or health cares by a result, one in three children in low and middle countries
suffer from chronic under nutrition without treatment, hunger can lead to stunted growth,
limited mental and emotional development and even death.

Another reason why poverty should be prevented because it causes malnutrition. Poverty can
contribute to worsening malnutrition by compromising the quality of food intake and blostering
hidden hunger which Is the deficiency or essential vitamins and minerals. The burden obesity
has extended beyond wealthier, develop nation has row, also become a feature of the
developing world.

Yet another reason why poverty should be prevented because it causes illness. Poverty is a
major cause of ill health and a barrier by accessing health care when needed. This relationship
is financial; the poor cannot afford to purchase those things that are needed for good health,
including sufficient qualities of factors related to poverty, such as lack of information, an
appropriate health promoting practices or lack of voice needed to make social services work for
them.

The above evidence shows that poverty causes hunger, malnutrition and illness. Hence
poverty should be prevented because if we didn’t prevent it more and more people will suffer.
We need to remember that people don’t chose to live in poverty, they are just the one who
suffer from it.
