Cross-modal association between color and scent for perfume product design
Yujin Kim†
Yu-Jin Kim
summary :By applying a color appropriate to the scent of a perfume product to the perfume bottle and packaging, the scent of the product can
be effectively conveyed to consumers. Accordingly, this study investigated the cross-modal association between color and scent through two
experimental studies. In the first experiment, drugs currently on the market200By analyzing the colors of several incense bottles, differentiated
color design patterns according to the type of incense were discovered. In the second experiment, the correspondence between scent and color
was investigated among domestic consumers. In a situation where the perfume bottle could not be seen, subjects were asked to smell the scents
of three perfume products and then choose the color that reminded them. As a result, all three perfume products have differentiated colors (hue)
