TITLE: An investigation to determine which time of the day people can estimate time the best
(morning vs evening)

TOPIC: Statistics
- Collect data in your school to see which time of day students best estimate 30 seconds.

PURPOSE: Finding out this will determine if people function or operate better in
the morning or evening and this is useful when it comes to creating realistic
deadlines on projects, team schedule and timing for project management.

MATERIALS:
- Stopwatch
- Pen
- Notebook

METHOD:
The group of 6 form five students went around their school and collected data in the morning and
evening period. Splitting the group into half to make the collection of the data easier.
They randomly selected a total of 40 students asking them to estimate 30 seconds. The students
were given the stopwatch and were told to press the start button themselves to eliminate human
reaction time error.
The watch was placed behind the students’ backs before they began counting. They were also
told to press the stop button whenever the student felt like the 30 second mark had been reached.
Then the results would have been recorded into the notebook. This process was repeated to
obtain the other results.
