Defining your project
Cost, Quality and Time:
• It is not about what you want but what you must
have.
• What is the key driver on your current project by
asking
– Why?
– What if?
– Can we trade?

• You need to make sure that all stakeholders are
involved having the same vision
• Kick off meeting – 1
• Kick off meeting – 2
• Never start your project unless all stakeholders are
on the same page and know what they will get at the
end.

• Get the project definition in writing and get it
signed by stakeholders and Don’t be tempted by
verbal agreements.
• Why? Because
– Customers add more tasks (scope creep)
– Disagreement on deliverables
– At the end of the project you might be dealing with
different management.
• Don’t be tempted to say “may be I’ll do it” or “I will
try”! Either say “YES” or “NO”

Resource Estimation - Planning
• Critical Path: the longest path through a network
diagram that determines the earliest completion of
the project.
• Make sure that critical tasks are accurately
estimated!
• If we are not happy with the time line how can we do
it quicker! How?
