Review the following Internet and University Library sources.

Then, determine which sources

are reliable and which are not. Explain your answers.
Blog: http://www.thenation.com/blogs/thebeat?bid=1&pid=1622
Typically I would suggest that a blog is not a reliable source because it is basically
someone’s opinion; anyone can write a blog. In my opinion a blog is like an online diary or
journal.
That being said, this blog is written by John Nichols, someone I am not familiar with. In an
effort to research John Nichols’ credibility I found this website:
http://www.thenation.com/directory/bios/john_nichols which summarizes his
accomplishments as a political blogger, author, public speaker, radio and television political
commentator. His assessment political issues appears to be credible. NOTE: I do like the fact
that his blog includes direct quotes and facts to support his statements / opinions.
 Wiki site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment#Public_opinion
Wikipedia is not a site that should be considered credible. It is full of information; however
anyone (and everyone) has the ability to modify the information at any time. It is not
regularly reviewed for content and should be considered interesting to look at, but not
credible.
 Web site: http://www1bpt.bridgeport.edu/~darmri/capital.html
I would not consider this site / article credible or something I would use as a research source.
The article is interesting, however an author’s name is not included, nor a publication
sponsor. Citations are included at the bottom and I would consider possibly using the sources
cited as available information for my research, once credibility of the source has been
validated.
 University Library article: To access the article, read the Electronic Reserve
Readings, located on aXcess, for this week.
This article is credible for the following reasons:
*Recent information: (2007)
*Source of information (EBSCOhost)
*Author uses credible sources for the article, see citation
