The cultural kaleidoscope of Taiwan's capital city pulses wherever you go. Incense - veiled old temples blend
seamlessly with a neon street life of a decidedly more modern era; it truly is a place where modern life meets the
traditional. Taipei has dozens of world - class restaurants where gourmets can sample the best regional Chinese

min drive from the capital city). Yilan offers the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy nature at its best with its
natural environment, cold and hot springs. For a relaxing hot spring soak, visitors can choose between the lowland
hot springs of Jiaoxi Township and the carbonic acid cold springs in Su'ao Township, one of only two cold springs in
Southeast Asia. Some of the attractions in the area include: Qilan Sacred Trees Garden, home to a hundred
indigenous trees over a millennium old; Yilan is also one of the best places in Taiwan to experience whale and
dolphin watching and also for cycling; Guishan Island or Turtle Island is a must visit, surrounded by submarine hot
springs that emit steam all year round. The island is called Turtle island because of its shape, amazing to see from the

Kaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan and is located in the south of the island, meaning its tropical climate
stays hot and sunny throughout the year. The Love River is a hotspot for those wanting to unwind and relax in the
parks and gardens that line the banks. Kaohsiung is also the home of Foguangshan (Light of Buddha Mountain),
Taiwan’s biggest Buddhist centre. Kaohsiung’s Sizih Bay is famous for its fine sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets,

the island nation. The city of Kaohsiung is also famous for its Lotus Lake, located on the northern outskirts of the city

TAINAN

Tainan is the oldest city in the country. It was here where Taiwan’s modern history began and it is where much of its
traditional culture continues to thrive. Outside Dutch-built forts, lively night markets sell dishes that are exclusive to
the region. Inside temples that are hundreds of years old, people bwah bwey (cast blocks) to determine the best
course of action, just as their ancestors did years ago. One such temple like this in Tainan is the Confucius Temple,
which exudes the calm, grace and beauty of traditional Taiwanese culture. Tainan is also home to the Chihkan
Towers; an old fort laid by the Dutch in 1653, and one of the best preserved historical sites in the city today.

from across Taiwan and the world to Tainan. And for an educational family fun in the summer visitors can choose
from firefly watching in Meiling, lotus watching in Baihe, and activities at Qigu Mangrove Tourist Park.
