Unsuitable extinguishing None known.
media
Specific hazards arising from the No specific fire or explosion hazard.
chemical
Hazardous thermal decomposition Decomposition products may include the following materials:
products halogenated compounds metal oxide/oxides

Special protective actions for fire- Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the
fighters vicinity of the incident if there is a fire. No action shall be taken
involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Special protective equipment for Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and
fire-fighters self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-
piece operated in positive pressure mode.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
For non-emergency personnel: Remove the ignition and heat sources, provide sufficient
ventilation and evacuate the area. Respiratory protection: is not
required. Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators
are appropriate, use masks with approved filter.
Suitable protective clothing, rubber or polythene gloves, rubber
shoes, safety glasses.
For emergency responders: Wear appropriate protective equipment to minimize exposure to
the product.
Environmental precautions Do not let the product enter drainage system, surface and ground-
water or soil. Contact local authorities in case of environmental
4
release. Do not empty into drains.
Methods and material for Soak up with inert absorbent material, and clean with plenty of
containment and cleaning up water. Collect spilled material in containers. Send to the storage
waiting for disposal procedures.

5
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.
Observe good personal hygiene practices & recommended
procedures. Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid contact with
eyes, skin and clothing. Do not inhale product dust/fumes.
Hygroscopic. Reacts violently (violent boiling) with water,
generating heat. Forms flammable gases and evolves hydrogen when
reacted with zinc.
Solutions attack some metals. Generates heat and violent
polymerization occurs when mixed with methyl vinyl ether. Bromine
trifluoride reacts violently with and attacks calcium chloride.
Storage Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Keep containers tightly
closed when not in use. Inspect regularly for deficiencies such as
damage or leaks.
Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and
kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabeled containers.
Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.
Protect against physical damage. Hygroscopic compound. Protect
against moisture. Do not store above 30 °C.
Container Store in original packaging as approved by manufacturer.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROL & PERSONAL PROTECTION

Control parameters
Occupational exposure limits None

Exposure controls
Appropriate engineering Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control worker
controls exposure to airborne contaminants.
Environmental exposure Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be
controls checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of
environmental protection legislation. In some cases, fume scrubbers,
filters or engineering modifications to the process equipment will be
necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.

Personal protective
Eye/face protection Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166 Use
equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate
government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166(EU).

6
Skin protection Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use
proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer
surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of
contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws
and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands.

7
Body Protection Impervious clothing, The type of protective equipment must be
selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous
substance at the specific workplace.
Respiratory protection Use a properly fitted, particulate filter respirator complying with an
approved standard if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure
levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the
selected respirator

Hygiene measures Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical
products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the
end of the working period.
Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Ensure that eyewash
stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location
