Speaker 1: Now we've discussed about so far, we've discussed about the effect of job search
methods. And at the conclusion we'll talk about professionalism. But I actually want to share
with you also my experience because every step that I just mentioned, I want you to know
and to understand that it has been practiced, it has been tested.

And it is also true for me. I've started my career or my job search process as an intern in high
school. I used to be a very active student, a very active student that I was part of different
clubs that could be Peace Club, Charity Club, Event Organization, Club.

I think now I realize that I was very much busy and then doing those activities because I
didn't know I was shopping and developing the skills that are actually helping me today. So
by being part of those different clubs, I was actually practicing my communication skills and
ability. I was practicing my event organization skills, I was practicing even presentation skills.
So those skills are what actually been helping me to assess myself early on and then also to
have a better sense of self awareness.

So, when I was in the university, besides my education journey, I always want to make sure
that I wanted to get different professional skills, the different professional trainings, those I
joined, different training programs back then.

A very there was a very different training programs provided by different organizations. I
also joined different professional clubs as well, which are very important for our personal
and professional growth.

So, I was part of a leadership and mentorship training program that really helped me to form
my self-discovery journey at the same time, also to prepare me for the different job or the
professional world. So, the first thing I realized from that training is how important an
internship program is from our university curriculum.

Maybe most engineering students or the natural department would get an opportunity to
get an internship. Or maybe now it's changing. But when our time internship opportunity
was only provided for the natural students.

So, if we were a social science, it was very difficult to get a work experience or an internship
experience. We used to do different volunteering activities, but internship was very, very
essential.

So, my first internship journey was here at ethio jobs. It was a very eye-opening experience
for me. And then I knew that once if I get this internship opportunity, that every other door
will be open for me.

Because again, the experience I've gained, what it means working in a different industry or
work environment, I get the experience of what it means working with colleagues, with the
supervisor, and those are the kind of important skills that I was aware of before I even
graduated.

So maybe you can see you don't have experience, but I'm sure you've done some internship
opportunities, volunteer work. So those are the first stepping stone for us to be really

successful on the job search process. So, I took my career from internship. Then also the self-
assessment and the self-discovery process which I was introduced while I was in the
leadership training program, really opened my eyes to help me discover my next path and
career.

So, I will emphasize on the importance of internship here as a fresh graduate, we can say
internship is not a paid job, so I'm not going for an internship. But imagine having an
internship opportunity before or even after you graduate, or you just chose to sit at home
and not doing anything.

So, if you get an internship opportunity, make sure that you're doing all your best and what
is required from you even sometimes to be extra proactive on your internship journey so
that you will get a very good knowledge on that internship process, because usually it's a
very short period ask be proactive, just don't set even demand from the employer that you
are there to learn. So, internship is a very good opportunity for us to take our careers to the
next level.
