2.1.2 Permanent storage of user variables

For some applications such as operating time counter or measured value acquisition
it is helpful to store values in a non-volatile memory. These values are still available
after a cold start of the controller or even after a longer power failure. The new
NVDATA (non-volatile data storage) function permits permanent storage of
variables. The NVDATA function is available for the AC 900F controller only.

2.3.4 Function Blocks

With the Freelance version 2019, the TCP / IP interface block SR_SRTCP is
released for use.

2.4 User Management

For better data security and more friendly user experience, Freelance now allows
you to use Extended User Management (EUM) as alternative to Security Lock for
user access rights management.
This new option makes use of Windows user accounts. Both local accounts and
domain accounts are supported. Typical requirements e.g. regarding central
password management and policies for the password complexity or age are met. If
the user wants to be logged on automatically, single sign-on can be activated
optionally for Freelance.
In order to ensure compatibility, support of the “Security Lock” option is continued.

3 Known Problems and Workarounds Installation

3 Known Problems and Workarounds

3.1 Installation
3.1.1 General

Windows message “Not enough quota is available ...”

In rare cases, the Windows message “Not enough quota is available to process this
command” may be indicated when the Freelance installation is completed.
(#25763 - RN_2019_002)
Solution:
Reboot the PC. After this, Freelance runs without any problems.

Downgrade of the AC 900F / AC 900F Lite firmware

If a firmware version lower than Freelance 2016 is to be loaded into an AC 900F or
AC 900F Lite controller with activated Control Net redundancy, you have to disable
Control Net redundancy prior to starting the firmware download.
(#24475 - RN_2016_011).

Error message when uninstalling Freelance

When Freelance is to be uninstalled while the OPC server and Trend Server are
being run in the background, it can happen that the Timesync service cannot be
stopped automatically. In this case, stop the Timesync service manually and then
restart the uninstall procedure. (#25687 - RN_2019_008)

Freelance user management

Addition of Freelance Documentation Engineering User Management - Group
Privilege:

Release Notes 15
Freelance Engineering 3 Known Problems and Workarounds

The format to customize the user group is

< Prefix>ABB Freelance Group<name of the group>,
e.g.: “Area1 ABB Freelance Group Guest”.
The prefix is optional. The string "ABB Freelance Group" must not be changed.
The group name must be specified. This is used in Freelance Engineering for the
configuration of the operator station access rights.

3.1.2 Freelance Settings

Freelance Operations and Trend Server and/or OPC server on same PC

If the software packages Freelance Operations and Trend Server / OPC server are
installed on the same PC, it must be at least one server configured without a separate
user account.
Otherwise, the communication between Freelance Engineering and Freelance
Operations fails. The operator station can not be loaded and remains in "No
connection" (#24958 - RN_20161_007).

3.2 Freelance Engineering

3.2.1 General

Auto-routing in the FBD editor

In very rare cases, the auto-routing mechanism may result in configuration inconsis-
tency. In unclear situations, it is recommended to close the editor without saving.
(#24926 - RN_2019_007)

16 Release Notes
3 Known Problems and Workarounds Commissioning and fieldbusses

3.3 Commissioning and fieldbusses

3.3.1 General

Correction of force and substitute values

If a force or substitute value is corrected via the dialog “Parameter upload”, in some
cases the new value will be corrected correctly in the controller, but shown in
Freelance Engineering as written. (#23221 - RN_2013_014)
Workaround: Do not use the parameter upload dialog for correcting force and
substitute values; always use the corresponding dialog of the module.

Replace or deactivate CAN Module CI 910F

If you want to replace or deactivate the CI 910F module of the primary controller,
execute the following steps:
1. At the primary controller press the "TOGGLE" button and force a redundancy
switchover
2. Check for successfully redundancy switchover.
3. Now you can deactivate the CI 910F at the controller (formerly primary)
4. Replace CI 910F and activate again. (#24704 - RN_2016_017)

3.3.2 Fieldbus communication

Temporary data loss during redundancy toggle possible

A redundant process station works as the master for fieldbus communication, for
example Modbus or Telecontrol. If a transmit command is overlaid by a redundancy
toggle, a loss of these particular process values is possible, depending on the timing
of the process station. (#22058 - RN_2013_016)

Release Notes 17
PROFIBUS 3 Known Problems and Workarounds

3.3.3 PROFIBUS

Loading data from a device via several DTMs

When simultaneously loading acyclic data via two DTMs of the same device, the
error message “Unknown error 0x42: fdt_unknownError” may be indicated and
communication may be interrupted. (#25963 - RN_2019_001)
Solution:
Refrain from simultaneously loading data via more than one DTM of the same
device.

Possible incorrect LED status display for CI 930F

If line redundancy is enabled for the CI 930F, it can happen in some constellations
that the LEDs A and B light up red to indicate a fault although there is actually no
fault of the PRFOBUS lines. This problem is most likely to occur in configurations
where only redundant slaves are used. When all primary modules of a PROFIBUS
slave are running on one line (A or B), only a few PROFIBUS telegrams are
transmitted on the other. Depending on the number of slaves and baud rate, the
PROFIBUS master stack may then interpret the long pauses between individual
telegrams as a line fault and then set the corresponding LED to the “red on” status.
As soon as telegrams are received again, that LED is lit green again. So, only if one
of the LEDs is permanently lit red, it distinctively indicates a line problem.
This means that the LEDs may allegedly indicate line faults which, however,
actually do no exist. As long as no corresponding error message is indicated by
Freelance Operations, the system is working without faults.
(#25910 - RN_2019_004)

Texts in the GSD file

If a GSD files contains texts of more than 32 characters, the text length must be
manually shortened to a maximum of 32 characters to avoid plausibility errors.
(#25116 - RN_2016_006)

18 Release Notes
3 Known Problems and Workarounds PROFIBUS

CI 741F diagnosis information is incomplete

If two or more channels fail, the Freelance Engineering unit diagnosis shows the last
one only. If the last error condition returns to good, all other – still existing – failures
are cleared as well. (#23941 - RN_20161_002)
An S700 diagnostic only contains a single error state (module/channel/IO type/error
type) and is therefore not cumulative. A new diagnosis always overwrites an
existing diagnosis.

CI 741F communication problems at 12 MBaud

When running the CI 741F PROFIBUS module at a transmission rate of 12 MBaud,
communication problems may occur on the bus. (#25906 - RN_2019_010)
Solution:
Run the CI 741F PROFIBUS module at transmission rates below 12 MBaud.

Parametrization of DPV1 parameter

If alphanumeric characters will be entered via copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) in a
numeric input field at the parameter mask for DPV1 parameters of a PROFIBUS
device, this could lead to a crash of Freelance Engineering
(#26166 - RN_2019_014).
Solution:
Enter only numbers and no letters in numeric input fields using the keyboard rather
than the copy function.

3.3.4 Send and receive function blocks

Receive data via TCP / IP with redundant controllers

The output "OUT" of the function block SR_URECV can not be written directly to
a process image variable which is required for the redundancy adjustment. This is
prevented by the plausibility check.
In the case of redundancy switching, the process value in the new primary controller
receives an undefined value for one or two task cycles until the function block

Release Notes 19
Process stations 3 Known Problems and Workarounds

SR_URECV supplies new data. This behavior can cause unpredictable conditions in
the process control (#26091 - RN_2019_015).
Solution:
Connect the output variable to a process image variable. Use only the process image
variable for process control.

SR_URECV_Variable.png

TCP/IP interface function block SR_SRTCP

The Freelance Controller Emulator only supports the TCP/IP interface function
block SR_SRTCP as a server. Using the function block as a client is not possible.
(#25542 - RN_2019_005)

3.4 Process stations

Control Net redundancy

Contrary to the documented behavior, the failure of both Control Net lines in the
primary controller does not cause a redundancy toggle if Control Net line A in the
secondary has also failed. (24490 - RN_2016_013)

No SD card monitoring for AC 700F Controller

Contrary to the behavior described in the documentation, the AC 700F Controller
does not generate an error message if the SD card is missing.
(#25706 - RN_2019_003)

20 Release Notes
3 Known Problems and Workarounds Freelance Operations

SD card error
When using some already pre-formatted SD cards or an SD card that has not been
properly ejected after previous usage, the controller may indicate the error
0x80002109 (DISK_FULL). Re-formatting the SD card or deleting some files
remedies the problem. (#26163 - RN_2019_009)

Control Net configuration change

When the network configuration of redundant AC 900F controllers with redundant
Control Net is changed, a manual restart of the secondary controller may become
necessary in order to ensure proper synchronization. (#25732 - RN_2019_011)

3.5 Freelance Operations

3.5.1 General

Trend Server
During commissioning it may happen that the process values in the trend display are
not updated. (#23412 - RN_20161_001)
Workaround:
In Freelance Engineering always load the gateways before loading the Freelance
Operations stations.
If the gateways are loaded after Freelance Operations, Freelance Operations should
be reloaded.
Another alternative is to restart the OPC Tunnel.

Camera on Freelance Operations

When displaying a WEB image of a camera on Freelance Operations it can happen
that the Operator Station become blocked after a long period of use. This depends
on the type of camera used. (#25650 - RN_2019_016)
Solution:
In order not to jeopardize the process operation, a camera image should be
displayed on a separate Freelance Operations Station.

Release Notes 21
Formulation 3 Known Problems and Workarounds

3.5.2 Freelance Operations on less monitors than connected

When Freelance Operations is being run on less monitors than available, access to
Windows and other applications is possible.
In this case, the monitor with the highest number (Windows monitor ID) allows the
user to change over to the user interface of the Windows operating system. Place all
intended applications on that monitor BEFORE starting Freelance Operations.
By default, Freelance Operations occupies all available monitors at first startup
without a project. After loading a project with a reduced number of monitors,
Freelance Operations must be shut down and then restarted again. It is then
displayed as configured. (#25751 - RN_2019_013)

3.6 Formulation
Freelance Formulation V1.2 TC01 supports up to 70 Master Procedures from now
on. While working with Freelance Formulation the database should not exceed a
size of 1.8 GB. The actual database size can be seen in menu Help > About
Formulation > Database size.

FormulationInfo_en.png

22 Release Notes
3 Known Problems and Workarounds Control Aspect

3.7 Control Aspect

No data in Control Aspect

In a running project the IP address of the OPC server which is used by the Control
Aspect for reading data is changed. The modifications are loaded to Freelance
Operations; the new IP address is configured in the wizard of the Control Aspect.
No error is reported, but Control Aspect cannot establish the communication, and no
data are shown in the Control Aspect dialogs. (#23390 - RN_2013_035)
Workaround: The reason for this behavior is that in the DCOM settings the old IP
address is still set, no automatic change has been done. Please check the DCOM
settings and modify them accordingly.

3.8 Bulk Data Manager

For very large projects it can happen that the Bulk Data Manager shows the message
“Server Busy” when the project is opened. In this case, the Bulk Data Manager will
continue working as usual. It is sufficient to press Continue after some time. As
soon as the Bulk Data Manager is ready, the Export button is enabled.
Furthermore, it can happen that Bulk Data Manager still shows the hour glass after
the Excel sheet is opened and can be accessed normally. In this case, Excel should
be closed, After this, the Bulk Data Manager can be used normally again.

Before installation it is strongly recommended that you export all your projects with
the currently installed version of Freelance Engineering.
Existing project configurations can be upgraded without any problems when
changing over from one Freelance version to the next higher (e.g. from Freelance
2016 to Freelance 2019). For a project upgrade, simply export the project into a
CSV file using the previous version of Freelance Engineering and then import
that CSV file using the latest Freelance Engineering version.
When skipping several Freelance versions, however (e.g. when upgrading from
Freelance V9 to Freelance 2019), it may be necessary to use one of the ‘skipped’
versions when upgrading the project (e.g.: 9.2 -> 2013 -> 2016 -> 2019).
For more details please contact the ABB Service or your local ABB organization.
As from Freelance 2016 the transmission rate of the AC 700F and AC 900F

Account Control (UAC) is enabled. If not, the following warning is indicated:

UAC_us.png

Click the Enable UAC to enable User Account Control.

4.2.5 Project data

The default target directory for Freelance project data (proj, export, reports, ...) is:
C:\FreelanceData.

4.2.6 Formulation upgrade

The recipes previously configured in old Formulation Versions (V1.1 / 1.2) can be
easily used in V1.3.
It is not possible to upgrade an earlier version of Formulation to version 1.3 directly.
In this case, uninstall the existing version of Formulation and install the new
version.
If you want to keep the recipes of an older Formulation version, please make a
backup of the Formulation database before the upgrade and copy the old database
into the new Formulation directory.
