The Bernat Boatneck Classic is a true

basic part of his casual-wear wardrobe. It

STYLE A (shown on page 25). Follow directions on
page 29 for Boatneck Classic in desired weight
yarn with the following exceptions. Divide yarn
requirements in thirds and be sure to purchase an
extra skein of Main Color. Work the ribbing on
front and back in M C and then work in stockinette
st, striping the 3 colors for 3 inches each. Work the
ribbing on the sleeves in Color B and then work in
stockinette st, striping the 3 colors for 3 inches each,
beginning with M C and being sure to end with same '
row of striping pattern as on back at underarm.

STYLE B (shown on page 26). Follow directions on


page 29 for Boatneck Classic in desired weight
yarn with the following exceptions. On the FRONT
at end of the ribbing, inc 1 st at end of needle. Then
divide your work so that the centre 13 sts are be-
tween markers and work these centre 13 sts in the
following cable pattern:
Row 1: P 2, K 9, P 2.
Row 2 and all even rows: K 2, P 9, K 2.
Row 3: P 2, si next 3 sts onto a cable holder and
hold in back of work, K the next 3 sts, K 3 sts from
cable holder, K 3, P 2.
Rows 5, 7 and 9: Repeat Row 1.
Row 11: P 2, K 3, si next 3 sts onto a cable holder
and hold in back of work, K the next 3 sts, K the
3 sts from cable holder, P 2.
Rows 13 and 15: Repeat Row 1.
Row 16: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat these 16 rows for cable pattern.

a marker on needle, work Row 1 of pattern st on next
102(112-122) sts, put a marker on needle, K 0(1-1). Keep-
ing sts between markers in pattern st, finish according to
directions. FOR SLEEVES: After ribbing has been com-
pleted, change to larger needles and K 0(2-3), put a marker
on needle, work Row 1 of pattern st on next 52 sts, put a
marker on needle, K 0(1—3). Keeping the 52 sts between
markers in pattern st and remaining sts in stockinette st,
work as given in the directions for sleeves, forming new
patterns when 10 sts have been increased.

GROUP C: FOR BACK AND FRONT: After ribbing has


been completed, change to larger needles and K 0(1-2), put
a marker on needle, work Row 1 of pattern st on next
112(122-132) sts, put a marker on needle, K 0(1-2). Keep-
ing 112(122-132) sts in pattern st, finish according to the
directions. FOR SLEEVES: After ribbing has been com-
pleted, change to larger needles and K 3(0-2), put a marker
on needle, work Row 1 of pattern st on next 52(62-62) sts,
