2- evaluate the effectiveness of media used In campaigns

Why do we need crime statistics-


police priorities, spot patterns and trends, assess if sentences are effective, to identify likely victims,
to understand causes of crime
the campaigns:
 all campaigns have to appeal to ‘somebody’- government, society, businesses
 the appeal is often visual i.e posters, images, videos, t-shirts ect
 the most successful campaigns have often incorporated unforgettable messages and imagery
e.g sarahs law, yes mum, talk to frank ect

Not deciding if the campaign worked- but how good the media was

Criteria used to evaluate:

 how widely will this method spread the message- e.g do only certain types of people use this
media
 how quickly will the message spread?
 What’s the cost of this type of media
 How memorable e.g visual, catchy tune, logo, personal story

Evaluate the effectiveness of blogs as used by the campaigns:

 Identify which campaigns used the blogs


 Justify your answer
 Support your point with evidence
 How do you know the campaign blog is effective/ineffective
